I called Hughes, I am paying for 200mb of downloads and uploads with no charges during 2am and 7am. My upload speed is supposed to be 700. I did a test and it averaged 450. I'm sorry, but something doesn't sound right here. Could it be that Hughes doesn't know what they are talking about regarding the plan you are paying for. See the link below. Do you maybe have the Power 200 plan? If so you are paying for 'up to' 2 Mbps Download and 'up to'300 Kbps Upload I wonder if that 700 you are 'supposed to be getting is actually for the upload between 2Am to 7 AM. He did a test and it shows that I have damage to the cables coming into my house. I will have to have them check on this later and pay their fee but we are experiencing an ice storm right now and I need to get through that. The ice storm itself would most probably slow your speed, as would a storm of any kind. There 'could' even be ice build up on the dish and other outside equipment slowing your speed. I wouldn't be lining up a $125 repairman anytime soon. I'd wait and see what you get on a clear day, and also what you get on a clear night. I also would not count on a $125 repair call even improving your speed. I have that problem every once in a while, except only for the Volume, the Safely Add/Remove is always there. I Googled and found the solution Mikie mentioned, for the Volume. It works, for a while, then the V button is gone again. System Restore always said no changes had been made. I've found that rather than going through the Options, a cold reboot will usually work. About the Safely A/R button: does anyone ever use it? DA, I remember from 'way back when there was a thread about that Invisible line. I think I found it then, but never have since then. try going to Start, Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer, click the "+" sign next to My Computer, "+" next to Local Drive - C, "+" next to Windows, click the word System32, on the right side of the screen - double click sndvol32.exe. That should install it. or you can do a search for sndvol32.exe and double click it. this is where to find what you were looking for control panel>sound and audio device and check the button "place volume icon in the task bar" try this first. if those do not work then go here and read the replies in the post replies #2#3 tell how to replace the needed exe file. There are so many places one can see the desktop folder - so its hard for me to understand exactly. If you go to "C:\Users\SUGAR \Desktop" and can right click your real desktop folder and choose send to....
