Good Morning on Wed.

I just came in from taking Izzi a ride around on my "big rig". While shutting the shed door out back I saw the prettiest green tree frog hop from one of the black eyed Susan's to another plant. It was a nice sized one and stayed there all the while I was there. It is a very nice morning out only 70 so far. I think I have plans for today, my weekly grocery shopping with Amber and Alyssa. I have my shopping bags ready and will get out my ice packs when she is on her way. How many take shopping bags to the grocery? I hope everyone had a good night's rest and ready to meet the day. :)

I spent a good part of my morning getting a new/upgraded prepaid cell and having Verizon activate it so that I can keep my current plan. I only use my cell for emergency type situations. They made fun of my 'antique' one that I had.

If my energy level doesn't drop, I'm going to cook up some stovetop meat muffins and make a beef/bulgar casserole later on. Temps/humidity levels are to start going up again tomorrow so must use the oven today.

As to grocery bags, most of the time I take my own.

You could try setting sprinklers going, sort of like what they do in citrus groves when extreme cold hits. That way the water on the leaves has to freeze before the leaves themselves can freeze. Another strategy is to cover with sheets, blankets, etc. I often get my tomatoes through the first several frosts here that way and get another several weeks of fresh veggies from an all-too-short growing season. Tucking jugs of hot water (I use plastic milk jugs) will help keep it a bit warmer as well. I can't remember, however, if spirea leaves are sensitive to frost. Hopefully someone else will know.

My laptop tells me it is 40 degrees here. I went out this morning to a women's group at church. Many people not there because of sickness but as always a comforting time. On the way home I intended to stop at grocery but it was very cold, wind chill in 20's. So I came home and took a short nap with the kitty and found more clothes to keep warm and discovered it is sleeting. Now I am leery of going back to the store because I use a cane and recently fell and broke my nose and stirred up the arthritis. But like many of you I want cornbread with a pot of soup and I have no cornmeal. So I am going anyway! Surely I can manage to stay on my feet. Your conditions are much worse than mine.

I've been dawdling around, as usual. Went over to walk the neighbor's dog a bit....he's not expected to live much longer, but he's so happy to see me that I cannot believe he's in that shape, although very thin. Have a dr. appointment of my own later today, and will have some moles removed from my face. I've put it off way too long. It's going to be a hot one here today, so I'll have to water everything before it dies. We have had very little rain, so that's a problem.

I have a similar dress to your llbean one that I got at Lands' End. Very flattering and comfortable. I looked for fit and flare dresses for my wedding. All the ones I wanted to get were sold out in my size. I also shopped extensively for a shrug for my September wedding dress because I didn't know if it was going to be hot or cold or somewhere in between, so I tried to come up with an ensemble that could be modified to look good in a variety of weather conditions. And then it ended up being unseasonably warm and I just went sleeveless the whole afternoon and evening . . . The dress was nice, but old lady arms get tricky, particularly when you are 58 and getting married for the first time . . . oh well, it is what it is and was what it was. A minor issue in the large scheme of things. Old lady arms are wrinkly, but I still managed to have a wonderful time at my wedding despite my exposed upper arms!! ;) The best outfit is when you wear the dress, not the dress that wears you . . . IMHO.

Hey, Matti I am back from my weekly grocery shopping with Amber and the baby. Right now I am cooking up about 12 pounds of boneless pork loin in my small pressure canner. It is one I bought this summer at a garage sale and paid $10 for. I also have 6 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts cooking in my crock pot. The pork I will shred and use some of it to make pork barbecue for sandwiches sometime soon and the rest will probably be bagged and put in the freezer for another time. The chicken will be divided up and some frozen and will be some of Izzi's meals along the way. I am getting ready to clean some great looking green beans I bought for $.88 a pound at the grocery. Not too sure about fixing much of anything else today. I just might eat pie for supper :) I had a wonderful Wisconsin Buttery burger from Steak and Shake plus some of the skinny little fries and a great big unsweetened iced tea for my lunch. I didn't finish the fries. I just know that has to be my favorite burger! What are you and others cooking today? I'll bet Shirley is busy cooking her meat muffins and a casserole!

I'm about to go out and buy a sickle and then have to meet with the regional coordinator for the exchange student program in Harrodsburg. Found out today that one of my exchange students won't be coming until the end of August due to Visa problems.

Last night went to an orientation about college aged foreign exchange students and will be doing that as well this year. They don't live with you but you invite them to dinner or out to sightsee and spend time with your family. I'm also going to be picking some up from the airport that aren't necessarily "ours".

This evening I'm going to chop some weeds.
