Good Afternoon on Wed.

Good Afternoon. I just made a pot of chili soup and baked a yellow chocolate marble cake. Why is it so hard to make a smaller amount of soup! I have made more than I want. They are predicting some nasty weather coming our way Thursday night. So if I have some foods fixed on hand to eat that is a good thing. Right now it is nice and sunny and 25 out. I have a fire going in the fireplace insert and if power goes out I can cook on it too, even bake inside if I got desperate. I may mix up a batch of cornbread this afternoon. I have been sewing so I will head back up to my sewing room and work some more. What are you all doing today? How is your weather?

Hubby just had another chemo treatment so we had to go to town. Roads not bad, blowing snow and temp now 0. Much better than yesterday at 30 below when we had to go in.
Storm expected either tonight or tomarrow. Not sure how much as this one is coming from Colorado instead of Canada. So I too am kind of making sure I have plenty of food on hand.

My laptop tells me it is 40 degrees here. I went out this morning to a women's group at church. Many people not there because of sickness but as always a comforting time. On the way home I intended to stop at grocery but it was very cold, wind chill in 20's. So I came home and took a short nap with the kitty and found more clothes to keep warm and discovered it is sleeting. Now I am leery of going back to the store because I use a cane and recently fell and broke my nose and stirred up the arthritis. But like many of you I want cornbread with a pot of soup and I have no cornmeal. So I am going anyway! Surely I can manage to stay on my feet. Your conditions are much worse than mine.

I am so sorry to hear you having this shoulder problem. I have had my right shoulder operated on twice in five years. I worry about you not having the help you may need to recover from this as it can be very difficult for the first few weeks. Both operations consisted of bone spurs,calcium deposits, and arthritis. I am 56 years old and have my son and grandchildren that live next door that helped me along with my DH. Both times I tried physical therapy before surgery but never got relief. I am not able to take any type of NSAIDS so trying to get relief for me wasn't working. The first surgery I did great. I had a pain pump for three days, but I had to have help getting dressed, showering and getting to places such as physical therapy as driving was not going to happen for awhile. Second surgery was somewhat the same but allot more surgery was required so the healing took allot longer. Both times I was immediately put on an ice machine in Operating room and sent home with one as well. You must use one!!!! I cannot imagine anyone not. The first machine I had to fill myself.(one reason it would be nice to have someone with you) the second time I used a ThermoTek cold compression machine with leg cuffs for blood circulation. The thermotek did not require me putting ice in it. It truly was my Savior as I used it a minimum of four times a day for a month. Healing has been SLOW for me. If I was able to get relief from physical therapy or the use of drugs I NEVER would have done it twice! I had this last done August 2012 and I am still healing and not pain free yet. We are having a very refreshing 83 degrees, low humidity day. Would have been nice if we had received some of that rain yesterday's forecast said we would get...but at least we can breath comfortably today. My day started with a leisurely bath and a light breakfast because dh and I would be having lunch out with "the old folks". It is a once a month thing with a group of friends all of whom are older than dh and I. Just got back home from that very enjoyable lunch. I intend to pretty much loaf out the rest of the day...maybe I'll go chase the bees and butterflies with a camera for awhile. A late supper will be the cereal that we didn't have for breakfast. Then probably dh and I will spend a little time sitting on the front porch watching the traffic go by and relating to each other what he learned from the other men in our group at lunch and what I learned from the other ladies. I will have been an enjoyable, relaxing day.

I finished the house number sign for my rental landscaping redo. I used a dremel tool to carve the numbers in the flagstone slab, but I need a better paint brush. The black fill in is kind of rough......distance is it's best friend. lol I've been shopping for a cheap solar powered spot light for it. Online, Home Depot has one for $10. It'll be buried up to the square part of it, the point will be under ground. It weighs 28lbs. :0)

I finially went and got a few groceries, enough for 3 days at least. My son dropped off beef stew a few days ago which his gf made it left much to be desired but we ate it so I picked up a sirloin roast that I'll cut up for beef stew. Annie over in the cooking forum posted her stew instructions for me. She made it recently and posted a photo which looked so good I had to ask her how to make it. Anyway I'll make it Monday I would make it tomorrow but the kids have been asking for ham BBQ sandwhiches and I promised. Amiee and the boys just put two pumpkin pies in the oven. They recieved no help from me but they did use the premade Pillsbury crust. They said they needed to practice for Thanksgiving LOL I will be a willing taste tester. I have a load of the boys school clothes washing now, actually just their school jeans. 125 deg.F Tide Free and Gentle Pod, and 3 rinses. I still have time for one more load tonight so I'll do school shirts. Tomorrow is another day. Elizabeth if your reading this I don't recall you posting lately of course I may have missed it...are you ok? Have a great Saturday evening everyone.

Bright and sunny here--although I haven't been outside yet, so don't know about the temperature.

Spent some of the morning working on a recipe revamp--was able to lower the calorie count by about 75%, then made some samples of it. They'll be going with me to a meeting at the newspaper--where I'm a columnist and on the food advisory panel.

This afternoon, I was glued to the Jodi Arias trial, but so as not to feel I'd wasted my time, I was working on a hand-pieced quilt I'm making to enter in the county fair this summer.

Its bright, sunny, and COLD. We went out for brunch and my Jeep's therometer read 7F with a cold north wind. Two hours later, the temperaure was 14F. We are expecting a little recipitation on Thursday. Hopefully, it will be warmer by monday.

I will be taking the wife to the opthomalogist on Saturday to get her eye poked with a sharp stick, not really, she will get a tiny laser drilled hole in the eyeball to relieve pressure. The other eye was done last week. Her eye pressure had taken a sudden and sugnificant increase. This procedure is considered an emergency, yet simple to do. On the plus side, it was caught in time before any damage was done to the optic nerve and sensors.

I have been sewing baby gifts all afternoon. A young man I used to babysit for many years ago is becoming a new dad in about 6 weeks.

It's snowing in Tucson!!!!! Golf tournament was cancelled today due to snow. Tomorrow should be back to normal.
