Form and Content: shampoos and stuff

I was looking for shampoo recently and came across Herbal Essences at Walmart.
It comes in various scents but what I like is that it has a big sturdy push dispenser.
I am older and fussing with all those caps and whatnot for various bath and shower products is becoming more difficult particularly when my hands are already wet and soapy.
I liked the dispenser so much that I bought cream rinse from the same company yesterday. Next time I go back I might go look and see if they have body wash in a similar dispenser.
The shampoo is nice. I do have more expensive shampoos and conditioners but HE gets my vote (and my dollars) because of the way they have made using their product easier for me.

Good for you! I, too, hate fumbling with the pop-up caps on shampoo and conditioner bottles.

But, here's a thought -- when the first bottle you purchased is empty, you can clean it out to get rid of all of the HE and then pour your more expensive shampoo into it. Then, you'd have the benefit of your more expensive shampoo with the convenience of the push dispenser.

You've reminded me... below are examples of what I keep thinking I am going to do, wall mounted. As it is, there are ten million shampoo and body wash containers in our shower. And I really really agree, I'd rather have no tops with which to deal. Just push a button and there it is. I see why I am really thinking about it. It's kind of expensive!

Storage...should be on site or if offsite temporary of known duration only. People spend a ton of money on storage and in the end they really don't want the stuff back in their house and sell it or give it away and don't recoup their storage cost, little less the cost of the stored item. I would put stuff you KNOW you will use in the kitchen, stack everything else in boxes somewhere easy to get to in the house, by the week after labor day you will have fished out of the boxes the stuff you really use and everything else can go to onsite storage (so long as you can still use the garage for the car(s) it was (were) meant to hold) or to someone else, I do not recommend paying for storage.

Beth, My husband's doctor is an Internist who is also into Holistic and natural medicines as opposed to the standard line of medications. Our skin was horribly dry and he suggested Krill Oil with a higher dose in the start and then tapering off to a more standard dose once the dryness eased off. It also helps with arthritis and a lot host of other things, but it worked wonders for our skin! I'm wondering if it might not provide an actual fix for your son's issue as well. After all it is dry skin, right? It took about a month to really kick in but wow, what a difference! Just in case anyone is interested, I did quite a bit of research and this is the one we ordered: Krill Oil It's a bit pricey I know, but it didn't leave a smelly after taste or cause stomach problems. And they do give you a coupon for a free order for the next time around. I can't say enough about how well it is working for us. Even my feet aren't dry anymore.

in the shelter I volunteered no partially opened toilet items, not used underwear either. Big stores donated opened underwear packages so not a huge problem. Additionally, cash donations were used to buy undies and other high demand items and very good discounts.. Other than legal issues, and you never know who's gonna sue, I think it was a morale booster for the clients to come out with "new stuff", no matter how small, it was something they simply weren't in a position to get for themselves. I liked the link for the alternative uses. If you just don't want to think too much about it, maybe dump contents and recycle containers. You'd still be a good citizen of the world. I do use soap, dish, detergent, any, for the soil. I used to be one of those that had a cabinet full of hair potions but finally got smart and learned to not grab the latest and greatest every time I was at the store.

Do you know about meetup.com? Look it up online -- you find people with similar interests -- I found French conversation, my neighbour joined people who want to speak Italian at dinner. Cooking, reading, dancing, nature, so many interests. Sometimes only 3 people in the group. It opens your pool of acquaintances and maybe you'll find friends. You can choose activities by distance from your home. I myself am fortunate. I live in the city and a neighbourhood with longtime coffee shops. There are about 6 of us who have coffee at varying times, sometimes planned, sometimes on the spur of the moment. Sometimes all 6 but usually just one or two. I have lived here for thirty years and though it's a big city, the neighbourhood feels like a small town. Could you try joining some community improvement association? I wish you some easy-to-get-together friends!

i like the Herbal Essence shampoo/conditioners anyway but really like the dispenser design and the fact that you can turn it upset down and leave it so that the shampoo is always at the dispenser end. It saves my arthritic hands from having to squeeze the bottles.

The one I bought, a larger one, has the pump dispenser (I keep it on the back edge of the tub and just push down on the pump), I'm thinking that one doesn't have to turn it upside down.
I agree, the shampoo and cream rinse are nice, I think I will keep on using them.

I've been decanting my shampoo, shower gel and conditioner into pump top dispensers for years because I like the one-handed operation and the cleaner look of the dispensers in the shower. The only negatives for me are that my dispensers all look the same, so I had to label them so I would know which was which and the dispensers don't hold a full bottle of product, so I have to store the extra product.

I like stuff in pump dispensers too. Much easier to use while showering or washing my face.
