I have not found one that doesn't leave me orange. If I had access to a pool I would get a light tan that way and then move into the sun just enough to keep the tan. There has been so much controversy to the dangers of sun tan lotions and creams especially with children that I had rather be exposed to the sun than lather on all the lotions.

Thanks Emma, but I have never heard that the sun is worse than a lotion. The one I get is dye made from natural things, the color it comes out of the bottle is green, but you have a great glow with it.

What are the ingredients that you say are dangerous?

I use Bare Essentials tanning lotion, and Tan Towels both give excellent results and no orange color.

Have you tried Jergen's lotion with a built in tanner? They make one for the body and the face and in a couple of different tones. You will not get a deep tan but a nice pretty tone. I have the face and body one and they do work and they don't smell bad like most self tanners.

I used to use Lancombe, but it's pricey. It was easy to use and looked very natural. (No orange.) I haven't used it for years, so I hope they haven't changed the formula.

Banana Boat Summer Color Self-Tanning Lotion, Deep Dark Color

Been using this for years and years. Can't find it in the store up here any more. I order it from Amazon. Package of 3 tubes is about 18.00. Lasts me for a couple of years, at least (but, then, I only use it on my face and neck).

Im also going to recommend the Banana Boat Summer Color Self-Tanning Lotion, but I use the light to med color..Love it and its not very expensive at all. I got mine from Wal Mart

Gog, I don't remember. I don't use sunscreen and have no children around, so it didn't concern me to much. They just advised people not to apply it in great quantities especially on children. I do remember mention of "may be worse than the sun".

Mt daughter, (very Irish and freckles) used the Jergens and she looks great...Everyone remarks about her "tan".....

I used to use the Jergens, but tried the Banana Boat Summer Summer color and I love it. I have VERY pale skin and with it I look tan. I normally would use the fair to medium, but read somewhere to use the medium to dark, so that is what I did. I love it. It isn't orangey at all, and isn't streaky. It is a dark brown coming out of the tube, but don't be alarmed. It smooths on nicely. It gives you a little instant color while you are waiting on it to dye your skin.

I love Bare Escentuals self Tanner in the big bottle w the brush applicator, it produces such a deep rich natural color. it does not smell bad, actually smells like almonds. I put it on an hour before bed, let it dry, put on PJ's that are white and get into pastel yellow bed sheets. it never ever stains clothes or bedding. i got it thru QVC i think it was around $50 but i've had the big bottle for 2 yrs now. i use it year round here in orlando, once or twice a week. i love the brush applicator, you can apply the tanner w/o getting it on your hands and get the brush rinsed w/o getting your hands wet. when I am done w this bottle I am trying St Tropez Dark foaming tanner that they use on DWTS. it applys w a mitt.

i spend alot of $ on products, facials and services to look 20 yrs younger I am not going to add to my ageing w getting a real tan. I had skin cancer @ 22 from using tanning beds in my teens so now finally in my 40's I have given up on a real tan LOL ~ liz
