I wanted to post and ask what the best body shapers were! For of course, the exact same reason as you! LOL

Can you post a link Vikki? I will need to look at them! Do they smooth out the rolls around the side and belly? None of this weight I gained has came off and since quitting smoking there has been a few more added on.
I will be keeping an eye on this post but meantime,

Well, I have them and I have to say that usually they are very comfy. But, when you have a belly they will still tend to roll down on you like the panty girdle. I'm much more at ease in a full corset girdle that holds everything in when necessary. (Only for special occasions).

There are also girdle type slips that smooth everything down nicely with clingy dresses.

I never felt uncomfortable in them. They help flatten the outer thigh area, and tighten the rear. I like them.

I bought the tights and on my, the top did in fact roll. Wouldn't buy them again, but that's just me..Kathy

Are these more like thigh shapers, or pantyhose? My DD has a plexiform neurofibroma tumor that grows on her butt and and nearly the whole way down her leg, we are always on the look out for good shape wear to give it support. (the tumor would likely weigh about 35 lbs if it could be removed)

I have a couple Spanx. They are comfortable enough, I don't think you'll need oxygen, but you may want to wear them ahead of time. They do make me hotter than regular undies, but they will smooth you. Wear them a couple times ahead of time to be sure you like them. I would definitely use them under a fancy dress...they do cover a multitude of sins!

I have one. Since I have a lot of belly fat I found that it just made my "MANY" rolls look like one big roll.

Was also a little tricky going to the bathroom.

Yep, once you break a sweat on the dance floor, try pulling that Spanx up and down. I almost broke a nail wrestling to pull it back up.

Maybe I needed a larger size. LOL!

OK...now I'm scared.....good thing I don't drink much! I can see me now in the bathroom with the spanx stuck half way up! I'll have to take it off and let the rolls just roll on out at the reception! How embarrassing!!!! LOL....on man this isn't going to be pretty!

Hanes now makes a slimmer called "Go Figure". It's like a heavier panty hose but it's not as hindering. They give a bit of extra support to the hips & tighs (where I need it most), though I'm not a big person. Easier to get up and down too and they don't roll down on the belly that I've noticed. They make them in mid-thigh length for dresses and a variety of other lengths too - longer and shorter.

They're $14 for a pair and smoooth me out pretty well in skirts, dresses and slinkly dress pants.

This is my new go-to shaper since they don't cut off my circulation.

On a stinky note, if it's a hot day, and you're gonna be dancing alot, you know how things can get in "that area" when you work up a sweat. I'll put powder, followed by a panty liner down there and change it out if needed. This way, the sweat isn't getting on the shaper - PU. Skinny people sweat down their too. Okay, too much info, but I KNOW you all know what I'm talking about.

I get mine at Bocov's or any dept. store. I think even Kmart sells them.

Reminds me of the old Playtex Panty girdles made out of some kind of rubber. They di a great job - if you could get in and out of them (giving away my age)

I don't dance so no chance of breaking a sweat for me! I will have a dance with my son and then DH..that's it for me, especially if I have spanx issues!!

I find Spanx comfortable when I'm honest with myself and buy the correct size...don't try 2 sizes lower. Trust me.

If you're wearing a dress may I suggest a body shaper slip? You could still wear panty hose under it or if it's a long dress then simply to the knee stockings or none at all.

I've never had a problem with it riding up; it stays put.

I have a similar one made by Nancy Ganz that I absolutely love for its comfort and the way the bumps are smoothed out.

I did the panty girdle thing when it was expected back in the early sixties. Didn't matter than if you were 85 lbs. A properly dressed young lady wore them. I remember struggling back into them after gym class. We did everything we could to hide them under our shorts and even under our towels in the shower to avoid having to pull those things back on.

Panty hose came along, a bit of jiggle became ok and we all tossed our girdles away. I don't care what you rename them today.Spanx,shapers whatever. They're GIRDLES.

I bought one and totally loved it....then when we let those "friends" stay in our house....I guess since she just had had a baby and needed the tighten effect it gives...she stole mine...so now I have to go and spend the bucks again and since I have gained 10 lbs I really need it...will get one next week.....OH well I can only guess she felt she needed it more then me right? I always check out ebay first...then I shop elsewhere if Ebay doesn't have it! I was going to order them from QVC, that's where I see them all the time. I thought it was exclusively theirs...guess not!

I like Flexees. I think they have them at Kohls. They are really comfortable and light weight and they don't break the bank when you buy them. I also have bought some from Hanes that I really like and they were really cheap. They were not as light weight though.
