I think dress #1 could have worked if it was shorter. I say stay away from this length dress, or get one that can be shortened. Due to the way it is embellished it can't be.

Moving on. #2 is actually cute on you. I would remove the satin ribbon. Or, I would bring it to my tailor and have him size it and add snaps so it can snap in the back. Even if you shifted the bow to the back it is too much bows.

I think it is too light though. I love that color and wore something similar in June. it is spring/summer not fall.

You actually look good in both styles. If the first was shorter and a bit tighter. In the future, tailoring might be a better option than going down a size. On the first dress nothing is pulling but you feel it is too big?

The second dress is kind of a fit and flare. I like the cap sleeve on you.

To review: A darker color, v-neck.

The fit and flare looks nice, but the top of that one is reading matronly. Try a v neck fit and flare.

Eld, I agree on the color- too light. I need blk, navy, emerald, or plum- I have dark hair eyes & don’t do well in pale colors- besides it being out of season.

I don't usually like black for a wedding-- but this dress just looks fun and sexy and anything but somber. This is from Nordstrom-- shipping is generally fast and returns are a breeze!

I especially like that the v is deep but there's plenty of support in the structure and I would wear the heck out of this (well, I would if I had great legs). It's not a one and done.

The last two Mtn posted is I think your ideal style of dress ( but maybe with some ruching)? I‘m not sure if you mentioned it so I could be wrong but if you are large breasted and shorter waisted ...a true fit and flare doesn't work. I know this. If that’s not the case you have more options.

It is a darker color so flattering and good for fall, but is not a solid black or navy. Thicker straps so a bra is no problem. To the knee on most. You can really see how gorgeous the color is in the second photo.

PS RTR has a ton of v-neck knee length cocktail dresses.

My favorites for you are the RTR dress Mtn posted or the last 3 Feathers posted (2 from Dillard’s and one from Nordstrom). I think you are getting close. The v-neck dresses will flatter your figure better imo, and those seem to fit the semi-formal wedding guest requirement best.

I have used RTR twice and can vouch for the ease of using.

Not much advice for Minnesota as it is hot here too. Do you have a sweater type longish cape or ruana that would work over pants, jeans or leggings? You could wear or carry it on the plane and use it when it’s chilly.
