hope all goes according to schedule and he cooperates with pt people...that was the worst thing with my mother, as she was in constant pain...and of course would rather sit than stand! but i did get her home and she finally realize no one else was going to be there, she buckled down and did everythig she could...(i lived in mi, she in las vegas) there are several things you can do to prep for dh...will he need a walker? shower chair? and sadly the furbabies are going to learn to see and hear these things... you mentioned his mancave is on a lower level...how are the stairs and railings? be sure to tell the pt about the number of stairs ect, that was one thing they worked very hard with mother..(her mobile home had stairs to get up and in) take advantage of the home care..caution! take plenty of notes cause they say a couple of weeks but it's more like 3-5 visits total! medicare has so much fine print! grrrr... i'm so greatful you have an extended church family...that means so much... looking foward to your updates!!!

So happy to see this update, Kathy! I wondered how he was doing and have continued to pray for him. Wishing him continued success on the road to recovery!

My youngest boy (18) threw away all of the lighters and cigarettes on Thursday. Jim understood this morning that some of his lifestyle choices brought him to this place. He is a little overweight, drank too much caffeine and of course smoked. He knows he is done with all of that. They did give him some tea at dinner time but he asked for non-sweetened. He likes water so he will be ok with that. His worst habit is those darn energy drinks- RedBull and such. No more! He will have to eat more fruit and veggies of course. We eat pretty healthy most of the time. Very very little fast food and he does not drink soda at all. I think the worst will be the smoking, but since I quit already maybe it won't be so bad. Both boys came with me today. The youngest had a real hard time. He broke down after the first visit. He did a little better after the 2nd one, but I ended up sending him home. No use in upsetting both him and DH. He wants to go back tomorrow and try again. My oldest boy (21) did better but even he had some tears. I did better and of course just talking to him and having him talk back was golden for me. We have a long road ahead but as long as we are walking it together I am good with that! Trish

Roy is home! He did well during the night without the assistance of any breathing devices. His oxygen levels were excellent and the nausea has gone except for getting a little car sick on the way home from the hospital.....about 30 miles. A sleep study will be done some time soon but the feeling is the apnea was caused from the morphine post operatively. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!
