No recipe, but I grew up with my mother making fried peach pies. We'd stand behind her, when she removed them from the pan. She fried hers in a cast iron skillet,but not deep fried.

Bite off an end, and push a blob of butter in and devour those delicious pies.

Local apple orchard, bakes theirs, delicious, but not anything like the fried pies.

I don't have a recipe, but my mother makes delicious fried pies. She uses dried fruit, sugar, and I think a little water, stews it to make the filling. She makes pie crusts, puts the filling in the pie crusts, folds the crusts over and mashes the edges with a fork.

She fries the pies in a little oil in her skillet, not deep fried. I don't care for the deep fried ones, I like the kind my mom makes. My MIL, my aunts, and everybody I know makes theirs the way my mom does - fried in a little oil in the skillet, not deep fried or baked.

They make apple pies, peach pies and apricot pies. I like the apricot the best, but each kind is wonderful.

Sometimes my mom uses a biscuit dough rolled flat, but the pie crust recipe is better.

I have made fried pies before and they were good. But not as good as my mom's and my MIL's. They have the magic touch!

I'm with Glenda on the fried pies - the local orchards here and a few restaurants have similar pies, but they're not as good as the ones I grew up with. I think some of the local places deep fry theirs and others bake theirs, and some put a sugar glaze on the top, but none are as good as the ones made by all the Southern ladies I knew in my childhood. I can't find anywhere I can buy pies like they made.

never had a fried pie until I met my mother in law. She used to make huckleberry fried pies. have to say I liked it better when I baked it! lol

There's a bbq place near me that makes fried pies like my mothers, Demetries! I had forgotten about Demetries.

Oh my, makes me want one!

A bit different but definitely worth the effort, you might like to try these, they are a delight. A long tradition in Louisiana, also in the same line are the tasty meat pies! Yum!

This reminds me that I used to make them like my Mom did, which was like Daisyinga's Mom makes, but with fresh apples, and I sprinkled sugar on top while they were hot. I haven't made any for a long time, because I can't get good apples anymore.

Here is a good different way to make something similar, if you can get the apples. I made these last year when a neighbor gave me some apples from an orchard somewhere. Unfortunately, they have moved away!

SWEET MINI APPLE DUMPLINGS

2 8-oz tubes refrigerated crescent rolls.
4 apples, cored, peeled and sliced into 8 wedges
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 Tbls (m-l) cinnamon

Cut each crescent roll in half, forming 2 triangles from each. Roll up 1 apple wedge in each triangle, crescent roll style. Arrange in a sprayed 13x9 inch pan. Set aside.

Put butter, sugar and water in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and boil and stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over crescents.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Makes 32.

Glenda, my mother also fried hers in an iron skillet and hers were the only raisin fried pies I have ever eaten.

Raven, Miss Emma Lou and I are both octogenarians but that's where the similarity ends. But do those ever sound good! I may get reckless and give them a try although I'm far from being a seasoned baker.
