What's for dinner Tuesday?

Harry had appointments today at VA so we spent most of the day there. The hospital is huge and getting from one place to another is time and energy consuming. We finally got out of there a little after 2 and stopped on the way home for a late lunch. I had a delicious corned beef sandwich on toasted rye with coleslaw and a large dill pickle spear. Also a large and very cold beer! That was at 3, so neither of us will want dinner tonight, but I still like to hear what you guys are having.

And tomorrow we get to drive the 50+ miles again to go to a dermatologist about a spot on his arm his primary care doc didn't like the looks of. Lunch tomorrow at Red Lobster since the derm. is right behind it. Woo hoo--2 days, no cooking :-)

Oven baked short ribs & beef gravy over rice and fresh pink eye garden peas with sliced tomatoes and sweet banana peppers.

Sue, both your dinner and Norm's sound delicious. Hope you are staying warm. It seems the worst of the weather is over and the nation will get back to half-way decent temperatures. Pam, yes I can taste one speck of pepper in a dish. Normally, I love pepper. I can't remember whether it was the chemo or radiation that caused it, but I do know my taste buds are whacky now. Sure hope they go back to normal soon. Panera's broccoli/cheese is my fav! Raven, what can I say but "YUM". You are such a good cook! Laura, I'm surprised you are able to eat after Glenda fed you, but a little chicken stir-fry never hurt anyone :-) Shirley, I haven't tried the chipped beef. It looks like that polar vortex is on it's way out so we will all be happy to get out of the house come the weekend! Kittiemom, enjoy the pot pie! Jasdip, how nice of them to invite you to their Christmas celebration. I could eat my weight in baklava. It is just too delicious!!

I cooked up a batch of my rice and mixed grains with added quinoa, celery, carrots, and onions tossed in with the broth at the very beginning. I added some smoked sausage half way through, cut into half inch rounds and a couple of big handfuls of kale at the end. Hot sauce to taste! Yum. This concoction is also great with chicken or shrimp....or as a side dish. Nice on a cold evening.

Sue, I've been hungry for smoked sausage since someone mentioned having it with cabbage a while back. Sure makes for a good, quick dinner. Laura, hope you enjoy your dinner. Glenda, stay warm--we're getting colder by the minute here! Gazania, wow! That's a lot of dinner! Jasdip, you get the clean frig medal! I'd freeze if I sleptwith the window opened even a crack :-( Seagrass, we can't wait to find out what you had for dinner!! Jean, my bathroom's about the size of a postage stamp so I couldn't pull anything like that off. I love the sound of your shower curtain! (Hate that taping!) Mary, you'll enjoy those flannel sheets tonight for sure. BLT's! Sigh!! Monica, you are so right about homemade bean soup. It's delicious. Sometimes I make big fluffy dumplings and pour the bean soup over the top. Yum! Matti, you still have a while to figure it out. Salad sounds good to me!

Glenda, have fun with your boys! Chi83, I've seen a few soup recipes on Pinterest that used kale and beans. Nice combination---I could sub something else for the quinoa, I'm sure. Monica, yum! Bet your house smells so good. I imagine a lot of KT'ers will be looking for the key lime pie mix. Pam, you get more done in one day than 5 people! When I lived in IN I used to work the polls. It was nice when people brought us goodies since we couldn't leave the building from 5 a.m. until about 7 or 8 that night. I loved doing that! Shirley, after reading Pam's post I feel like I did nothing! Got more to do tomorrow. I'll be glad when tilapia tastes right again! Jasdip, I've read about those tomatoes too, but I thought they were really expensive. Glad you found out differently. I like Pomi brand tomatoes. They are imported from Italy and in a box like chicken broth comes in. The ingredient list is pretty short: tomatoes. :-) Mary, unfortunately I'm not finished with all the changes, but the list is getting short. :-) Grilled cheese sounds really good. Georgysmom, do you like your new closet? Was your DH surprised? Good luck at bridge!! Raven, hope that rain heads north instead of east. Spaghetti was always a winning dinner around here.

last month bought a whole pork loin at sam's and cooked it. chunked it up into 3 pieces and froze...

tonight reheated one piece in baby rays bbq sauce...sliced it thin, served on hogy rolls with shredded lettuce...side of baked beans...it tasted soo good! made another for dh for his lunch tomorrow...

Been running around today, stopped for lunch out...so supper was simple tonight.

Cold salad. Mixed salad greens, steamed asparagus tips, red sweet peppers, scallions, cucumber, etc. with cut up chicken and mixed with Wegmans basting oil and a sprinkle of sea salt.

Its been cold and rainy outside all day and the house is chilly so I thought this would be a good day to use the oven.

Oven Roasted Cornish Game Hens with my own Garlic & chive glaze,Rice Pilaf & Harvard beets, small dinner salad and sliced peaches over cottage cheese for desert

Still sort of recovering from cataract surgery so it was simple.

Potatoes, carrots, cabbage steamed with beef smoked sausage.
Nice big tossed salad and Pepperidge Farm chocolate cake

I threw together a marinade ((I don't measure) couple T of soy sauce, couple T of Vinegar, couple T of red wine vinegar, couple T of oil and about 3 T of Lemon/Garlic seasoning that I get at Sams and threw in 5 leaves of basil off my plant.) Marinaded about 5 hours in a bag and then grilled it......OH MY! Also steamed some broccoli. It was all good!
