I cooked a mixture of barley and wild rice in chicken broth. Made enough for fridge/freezer for easier meals. I had some of it for my evening meal, topped with steamed vegetables. And I finally got my tilapia cooked.

The temperatures dropped to 19C (66F) today. Fantastic day! I pre-cooked a roast beef and finished cooking it tonite. Well done, with carrots and onions around it, and boiled new potatoes and gravy. Man it was good.

The high temps and humidity are coming again mid week. Blech.

Too hot to cook. I had a ham sandwich.

We had creamed dried beef over homemade biscuits, and steamed broccoli. Usually make my own white sauce, but the Amish market had a packet that you just added water to and cooked for a few minutes. Thought I'd experiement. It was actually really good--and probably cheaper than making it from scratch.

Glenda, I just saw your recipe for braised beans when I was looking through my recipe binders. I really need to make them.

Shirley, you're so creative! I just love wild rice. We bought tilapia when we shopped last week. I think Harry'd eat it every night!

Jas, 66 degrees??? I'd have to have the heat on. It's almost July!!! When I do a roast like you did, I use chuck roast, but wonder if there's another cut. I like the flavor. And I love the carrots and potatoes cooked in the broth.

I know what you mean, Marilyn. All this rain has just made the weather steamy, sticky and muggy (hey--those would be good chicken names :-) Way to hot to spend expend any more energy than you have to.

We had spicy polenta with a mushroom ragu. It's about 100 degrees here. We're supposed to only get to 85 tomorrow.

Wow, dees--what a gourmet meal. I didn't think it ever got that hot in Tennessee. I could live with 85 every day if the humidity was low.

It's been a long day. I left here at 9:30 to decorate the tables for our golf banquet tomorrow, then went to the dentist, then to bridge. After bridge, I met some friends at Panera's for dinner (Asian chicken salad...yum) and then we went to the movies. I made a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up some dill so I could make the ditalini salad and got home at 9:30 p.m. Just packed my car with all the stuff for the tournament tomorrow and will be heading for bed soon because I have to be at the golf course at 7:15 a.m.

I had leftover chicken marsala from a restaurant meal last Thursday and a green salad. It tasted okay so I hope it was okay to eat.
