Can't Smell or Taste Anything

I am just getting over a very bad cold that lasted for 3 weeks, worst cold I have ever had. But as a result I cannot smell or taste anything.

Has anyone every experienced this after a cold especially for so long. I am feeling quite good now so you would think my taste and smell would come back.

Sure have, it's annoying. Cook some liver...that'll cure it LOL

Yup, I have. It's awful.

I agree to look for strongly-flavored foods. Maybe time for Mexican or Szechuan?

"but when I saw no progress with Natria..." They make some of the most useless products, but consumers want them. A lot of them are nothing more than canola oil (literaly, like just canola oil and water). They market them as if they actually work well when the truth is that though many may help, it's overall effectiveness isn't...well, it's not very effective. I've seen a lot of people burning their plants up using Natria applications with oil in them at improper times as well as pest problems these formulations can't tame...mostly, I've seen people waste a lot of money on things they could mix into a spray bottle themselves.

I can't barely smell phlox. I can't smell phlox at ALL. Period. And nobody tell me about zinc. I can smell everything except phlox. There isn't another of the flowers (or spices, or anything) I cannot smell if they have a smell. I also cannot taste BitrexTM. There are a few percent who cannot. I'm disappointed. It's supposed to be so murderously brutally bitter, and I can't find out. And yes, I can taste other bitter things. Dandelions, yuk, methylsulfonylmethane ugh; Tylenol, arggh, etc. Bitter soda water, nicely bitter. Swedish bitters, yup (but no thanks). Etc. I discovered about phlox some 20 years ago. My sister said, 'Ohhh... PHLOX!! I LOVE the smell of phlox". And she goes and bunches a bunch together and sticks her face in it. "Mmmmm!!" I try it and I'm like Dang! she's playing me. The stuff has no smell and she's pulling my leg...

I planted Sea Holly from seed, thought it looked nice in the picture, and of course, the name, Sea Holly, sounded nice. I was standing near the flower bed where I had planted it, one day, and I thought, did an animal die under my giant hosta, or something? Couldn't figure it out, until I finally went over and smelt the Sea holly, OMG, it really stunk. And it's not that pretty either, I'll soon be getting rid of it, I hope!

Isn't everyone talking about refined oils? Most have very little, if any discernible flavor, IMPE. Unrefined oils, OTOH can have quite strong flavors. I got some unrefined organic canola and sunflower oils from Aldi, and I thought the canola had an unpleasant, strong flavor, while the sunflower has a distinct sunflower seed taste. I often use extra virgin olive oil in baking sweet breads & cakes - usually mixed 1/2 & 1/2 with butter. It makes for very rich tasting results, and nobody has ever said they tasted olives.

Yup, it has been 3 1/2 weeks, and just starting to feel like myself, although I feel some congestion. Didn't lose my sense of taste or smell. Hope you're better soon.

I had that a couple months ago, thought I'd NEVER smell or taste again! Ok now.

I hope you are feeling better and that your senses return soon.

Sunday afternoon I developed an awful sore throat, by Sunday night I was freezing and miserable, Monday morning the congestion kicked in. Still feeling 'off' but bunches better than I was. Hubby went thru this a week and a half ago but the doc is testing for lyme since he has a huge red mark on his side, tho we never found a tick.

I sure hope my taste and smell comes back soon. This is just awful, never have had this happen before when I had a cold.
