What is Everyone Doing Today?

Amber and I went to some rummage sales this morning. I got some really like new hard cover books for $.25 each and a nice Presto pressure cooker, probably a 6 quart size for $2.00. Then we picked up drinks at McDonald's and went to Cheryl's house. We looked at her pretty flowers in her flower beds. From there we went to her Mother's in law house and they got the rest of the fabric for me. The girls decided they wanted to get my half whiskey barrels ready to plant so they both worked with that. I planted them after I got through puppy sitting for Amber and Mike.

Not a lot done around here but a bit. How is your day going for you?

Let's see. Up early, cleaned the kitchen, made breakfast for DH and me. Then we made a hardware store run. After that, I painted about a third of the porch railing before the sun started getting to me. It looks SO good--white now, instead of the ratty, weathered gray it was. Then we had lunch. I cleaned and vaccumed the rest of the house. We ran out to the drug store, and now I'm playing here. Might make some cookies in a bit--I think some little friends might be dropping by later.

Baked chocolate cake for tomorrow's dinner.
Put tomato plant in "TopsyTurvy" thingy and hung it outside.
Knitted a bit.
Now, waiting to see if we're headed to the cruise night in Harleysville...storms all around us, and we're not driving the street rod up there in thunderstorm. Looking to see where these storms are going. Plans are to eat supper up there, otherwise send out for Chinese...the kitchen is closed for the night.

Oops, just started to pour.

Worked today. We had a dinner at work for Mother's Day, fried chicken, potatoes & green beans, corn, broccoli salad, rolls, macaroni salad, potato salad, mac & cheese, fresh apple slices and strawberry cheesecake. All very good. Nice, semi-busy day, but not horribly so. Came home and me and the kids took out all our old junk, old paint cans from when we first moved here to this house and what the previous owner left, 2 microwaves, a treadmill, old bookcase (that someone picked up while we were still moving stuff out), two broken dining room chairs, an end table, several computer terminals, an old monitor, Lauren's old daybed and mattresses, old broken Christmas tree, etc... The city is coming to pick up this stuff tomorrow. They do it once a year. The guy who came to look through our junk and who took the bookcase, helped Alex move the treadmill down to the road. We three were struggling to get it out of the front door so he came up to help. Nice, huh? Someone else came by before that but I don't think they took anything. Tomorrow and the next day I get to finish painting Alex's old room, clean it up and then work on cleaning up the garage. I've had my car sitting out the last few days and I'll be glad to be able to put it in the garage at night. It was chilly this morning with dew all over it, took forever to clear the windows so I could see out of it. Oh, and my dad called while I was at work to wish me a Happy Mother's day, so when I was on break I called him back (he had left me a voicemail messsage), got a text from an old friend and one newer friend, for the same reason. Came home and the kids had a card waiting for me. ( : Not too bad a Mother's Day.

Haha, Velleen, I thought about just moving in with Sue until she mentioned yard work!!! Glad to see you back. I learned something new today--how to change fluorescent bulbs--the long kind that go in ceiling lights. Ours went out a few days ago so I finally remembered to buy some new ones. DH has always done that and tried today, but his PAD seems to be getting worse and he was struggling. He did get the cover off, though. It was really easy and now I know!! Getting the cover back on was the hard part. Since I'd brought the ladder in the house I decided to paint the kitchen. I got most of it done before I wore out. Just have behind the frig and around the pass-through, but that's another day. I don't mind painting once I get started, it's the prep and clean up I hate!!

Not too much. Spent the morning visiting my aunt at the assisted living facility. Then came home and polished the upstairs floors with Old English Scratch Cover--does a GREAT job on floors. Then spent some time organizing and paying bills. DH came home late--they've been working overtime every day--and I reached into the freezer to get some bacon for BLT's.... Ooops, knew I had bacon, but I realized it's at the other house, so we ran out for Chick Fila. Then, when we got home, the little gal next door was out, she got interested when she saw my husband changing the batteries in my metal detector, so I tossed a handful of change into the back yard when she wasn't looking and let her have fun finding it.

Cleaning... Things I don't do everyday... I'm having the Bible study here tomorrow and lunch. Taking a back hurting break right now...have to do that every now and then. After a few mins I can get going again. I really need to wash some throw rugs...but won't have a dryer until about 6:00. Our broke again...nothing big but Denny said he just not going to work on it anymore. The dogs drag in more dirt than all of my kids and grandkids together could have drug in ,in a life time. Arrrrgggh...so ready for them to all find a new home. patti

Woke up really late today. I felt horrible, of course. Ate breakfast and just did an hour workout. I feel pretty good now, except for the sweat. LOL! Going to shower here in a few minutes. Then I have to run to the grocery store for some food.

Later this afternoon if it hasn't started raining I'm going out to finish spreading the mulch I got last week and maybe plant a few more things out in the garden. I also need to stake my tomato plants.

Not a whole lot. Cooked us some lunch, mopped the kitchen floor and have talked to my mom and DGD on the phone. Twinkie's asleep and I'm trying to be quiet.

No cooking for me today!!! Went to a steak fry at local bar tonight with friends and relatives. They have this every so many weeks or so. They do have a section in another room that is smoke free and for the little ones.

Was supposed to rain today, so I went on a shopping trip. Drove for 2 hours (closest Sam's, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Joann Fabrics, etc) and shopped til I dropped. Having lots of company coming in a week, so needed to stock up on lots of things. 12 to 15 people will be coming thru during the week and 2 dogs. Had to start planning meals.
One DDIL has Celiac's disease and we really have to be careful with gluten. Plus, she's pregnant! Makes cooking a little more difficult, but she sure is worth it.
Never did rain today, so I missed a good day to work in the yard.

I was able to sleep in. This afternoon I went and had my hair done. I needed something to give my hair some "zing" for summer. So now I'm all stripey with cafe au lait highlights added to my already somewhat highlighted hair.

After that it was already evening so I stopped and had a crab melt sandwich and a salad for dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Then I went to Michaels and used my 50% off coupons for a new cake pan and a set of markers.
