Pegasus Granite Sinks

I was @ Home Depot last PM and looking @ their sinks. Their house brand, Pegasus had some nice black granite dual mount dbl sinks for Does anyone have any input on them?

I did some further digging and I think they are made by Blanco #511-707, but the Home Depot store price @ $289 and their web site price @ $505 are hundreds of dollars apart.

I have the Pegasus black granite sink (a single bowl) and I really like it. My granite fabricator told me it was one of the most popular sinks.

I agree that the blending in of the sink doesn't seem like a problem. We have a creme bordeaux granite with a Blanco single bowl antrhacite siligranite sink. The granite has a fair amount of black in it. When it was first installed with the sink it took me awhile to realize there was a sink there. At first glance from across the room it just looked like a black hole. I have grown to really like this sink. Like the black hole look and love how it stays clean looking with little or no scrubbing. Sit back relax and enjoy the new counters and your sink. As far as changing it out. Funny you ask because I looked at the sink just in case someday it had a problem and I had to replace it. With an undermount on a granite countertop they do use silicone to mount and seal it. That is not really a huge problem since it can be cut and cleaned off. Now beyond that really depends on the rest of the installation. Some installers sandwich the sink between the plywood underlayment and the granite. In this case to remove although not impossible it is more difficult. Other installers use some method of screwing mounting brackets around the underneath rim. These are not as difficult to remove. The short answer would have been yes they can be removed and replaced. And yes it may take a little work. Sit back relax and enjoy your new countertops and sink.

Pegasus is HD's private label brand and depending on the product can be from no name Chinese sources to well respected manufacturer's just rebadging their products for HD. The Pegasus granite sinks are an example of the latter. They are rebadged Blanco sinks. Special ordering them in other colors shouldn't be a big production, as they are readily available. The "white" color is exactly Blanco's white color. Not a true bright white, more of a "paper white" but not bone either. (They also have a bone color available that is a nice creamy not too yellow not too white bone color.)

I bought a Pegasus sink (lg. single 33'' bowl) then had to return it because it wouldn't fit in our corner sink base cabinet. I then bought the 25'' single bowl on line from Plumbers Surplus and got a terrific discount considering the cost at a kit/bath store. Plus the sink arrived in about 4 days, the speciality store told me it would take 4-6 weeks. I found no difference in the two sinks, and I must say I LOVE this sink, we have it in anthracite. Oh, Plumbers Surplus was very good to do business with.

Abbycat9990 - thank you for posting the picture of your beautiful kitchen! It looks gorgeous! Fieldser; I didn't get to check on here until last Monday when the granite guys were here! I am fine with the odd shape, but would have been really upset had I not noticed it before hand. I hope it's growing on you by now ;-) I have an unforeseen (on my part) issue related to the shape of the sink I guess! I am not ok with my faucet line up! The granite guys drilled holes in the granite along the line of the sink! So there are four holes, the first on the left is a little over an inch from the back splash and the fourth is a little over 1.5" the faucets don't follow the straight line of the back splash?! I'm trying to see if it bothers me now that the faucet & accessories are in place...they are each different in diameter at their base and so the depth / distance from the back-splash / the edge of the sink is less obvious now. Perhaps this is the standard thing to do, but I would have thought they'd have mentioned it to me before drilling! I didn't realize they'd done this until they were finished! If something is not going to be symmetrical then I want it to be *obviously* a-symmetrical! A statement. Not just slightly "off"! Being "slight" looks like a mistake to me! I'm a little ill to my stomach about it really. I am upset that they spent five minutes discussing the inches apart the faucet holes should go and yet made no mention of the line they should follow! I was stupid to assume it would be STRAIGHT! Arghhh. We had it installed as an undermount with a thin lip showing so that we could use the cutting board and accessories that came with the sink. Now we just need to get the carpenter to trim the board to fit! (Fingers crossed that'll work out). Oh, the other faux pas! The granite guys mounted the dishwasher to the underneath of the granite by glueing and bolting clips. Great... BUT - it's in crooked! "Miss Observant" wasn't too observant that day and I didn't notice this until an hour after they'd left my home! I think I was just too enamored with the new counter-tops! They've been supposedly "coming back" since Thursday! [rolling my eyes here] but haven't shown up *yet*! The right side of the dishwasher is not in line with the cabinet next to it and the left side sticks out and so the dishwasher door bangs into the cabinet when you are closing it! Nice one eh? I wish my husband had been here when they were installing. Not to sound like a feeble female but I think things would have been more thorough if he'd been here. I've never renovated a kitchen before now, so I didn't know the pitfalls/ potential for error! I am learning that in general people just don't give a rats a$$ - you need to ask lots of questions and you obviously need to stand and WATCH as everything is happening! I didn't want to hover too much so made myself busy when they were drilling (I think that was the worst time to leave the room)! They all arrive to your house, act like they are heaven sent, ask a few questions to play the game and appease you and then proceed to do as they damn well please! Amazing!

Just confirming that (at least, as of two years ago) they ARE made by Blanco. Like Rose, I was attracted by the much lower price, and asked the HD salesman to call and see if they were available in any other shapes. So he went to his trusty book looked up the phone number for 'Pegasus' sinks, and the person on the other end answered "Good morning, Blanco" -- 'Pegasus' is simply the house brand name for HD's products.

That said, there is no guarantee that 'Pegasus' brand products are made to the same full quality specs as their name-branded counterparts. For some products, like the sinks, I'm guessing that they are. For others, like faucets, I'd guess they frequently use cheaper materials.

The sinks at HD were shallower than the Blanco Silgranit specs. There could be other differences, but that was the one that caught my eye. That was 2 years ago, and now there are probably other models. You can get specs off the Blanco America website, then head to HD with a tape measure to check out the Pegasus for yourself. When I asked a HD person for a spec sheet on the sink, they just said "huh?"

We have a beige pegasus sink *countertop* in our bathroom. While it does show watermarks (that disappear as they dry), the surface is nice and smooth. We've had it for two years and it still looks nice (we wipe it down after each use).

Some friends have the black pegasus countertop and it has held up well even under some pretty rough usage (shaving, non-cleaning, teenagers).

I would imagine the sinks would hold up as well as the countertops. They seem to be a really nice value. Good luck!

Hi....just had to post this regarding the granite composition sinks. I have a new one, a deep grey franke extra deep one. Anyway, I've found that after heavy use, it can appear...faded. What restores it beautifully...I used a food grade mineral oil (to use to condition chopping blocks) on it...just pour some on a papertowel & rub in. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Wow...just great! Anyway, I do LOVE the sink! I've had far too many bad experiences with even very high quality stainless over the years. To me...this was a great find!

I have the Pegasus granite composition sink from HD. It has been in for over 2 years and I still love it. To bring the "shine" back I rub it with whatever I am using to clean and shine my granite counter with and it really pops. My sink is black. I do have a little problem with the white haze at the bottom from hard water, but you can't see it after I apply the granite cleaner.

We have had the black Pegasus dbl sink for 2 yrs and love it. Haven't had any fading or staining. It always looks good - even when not totally clean! Have had every kind of sink at all price points prior to this and this beats them all. No problems or complaints and no special treatment. Couldn't be happier.

I just purchased the Pegasus granite sink but haven't installed it yet. I have read that many people advise using a wire rack but Pegasus does not sell their own. I bought the 745 987 single bowl and was wondering if anyone bought a rack for this sink from a different manufacturer that fits it. The racks seem to be special order and I want to know that it is going to fit properly. Appreciate any help you can give.
