One thing that people have done in the past to avoid marketing their sink to passersby is to install the sink with the logo facing the back. I wish I could come up with the name of who did this, but they specifically did it with a shaw sink.

It's a Delta linden single lever pull out faucet in ORB.

I have seen psots where people talked about installing the shaw sink backwards but I remember there being some concerns about the drain location. I'll see if I can find them for you.

I had a Porcher in my last kitchen with a reverse install so the logo wasn't visible. I didn't even realize this until our new remodel. I got the same sink and realized that there was a logo, etc.

thx sabjimata - no issues then with your porcher? Assume not since you are getting it again. Anyone know anything about Franke's fireclay sink? Have not seen many reviews on that one.

I have a Shaw's. The badge doesn't bother me at all even though I don't care for logos or insignias on other things.

Thanks, rococogurl. Do you love your sink? Do you feel like you have to be REALLY careful? Do you ever wish you had stainless? I am going from a kwc stainless to a farm sink (which I have wanted for so long, but I am so afraid of regretting it with the first dink. Of all the logos on the sinks, Shaws bothers me the least! It's kind of vintage looking.

I've had my sink now for 5 years. I love it and so does everyone else who comes into my kitchen. It's upmounted so it's a bit high (no bending) and also pulled forward so I get right up against it. It cleans beautifully with barkeepers and drains well. I have a sprayer and feel one is needed (in whatever form) for this sink. Hand swishing doesn't cut it.

I only have 1 tiny ding on the bottom but it's my fault as I just got a sink grid. That has been fabulous (I thought I'd hate it) as it keeps things off the bottom. Even with the full rim exposed (because of the upmount) not a mark on there.

We have an apartment with 1 y.o. a stainless sink undermounted in marble. It's also 30" single bowl -- same size as the Shaw's. We alady have 2 dings on the inside of the front rim of the marble where DH hit a pot.

Stainless is great. Mine happens to be a few inches deeper than the farm but I don't think quite as comfortable. If I could have afforded to replace my sink cabinet (we just painted) I would have gone with a farm sink again. But our sink base wouldn't work with one.

I've been on this board a long time can't remember anyone who didn't like their farm sink. Offhand don't recall anyone who ever switched one out. Heard very few chip stories, perhaps one cracked sink in all these years. Durability doesn't seem to be much of an issue as the Shaw's are made to last.

Hard to think of any other kitchen feature as heavily used and so positively. Perhaps other owners will respond but I've always found it to be a ditto-fest when they do.

Rococogurl - thank you...this is helpful. I agree, the deep stainless sinks are not as comfortable. I always get a lower back ache from leaning into the sink too much. I hope others do respond. Anyone have the KWC Chateau Farm Sink? I'm a fan of KWC products but can't seem to find any reference to it on the GW site.

Don't want to be the lone voice here so I hope others will chime in. There are many manufacturers who make these sinks. Shaw's is a favorite but it doesn't seem to matter that much.

Didn't know KWC made a farm sink. So I'd call them and ask a lot of questions (if you haven't already). Where it's made, hand vs mold, what's the body (usually fireclay or vitreous china which is similar), does it take a disposal, if so does it need a special disposal flange and who sells that? (Shaw's needs one and there have occasionally been difficulties around getting those in time.)

Also, I'd check to see how it would fit in the sink base, look at drain location to be sure enough there's enough space for a disposer (if you're using one). Is a sink grid for that specific sink available (I mentioned my big mistake in not getting one right away). Also, does the drain line up well with the length of the faucet you've chosen (to minimize splashback).

Being compulsive, I'd also check the dimensions vs the Shaws which we know are comfortable and deep. But I'd do all this with any sink that I hadn't already used. Expect you know how to download the spec sheet (pdf) on the sink which gives all the dimensions. Excuse me if I'm telling you stuff you already know.

Just chiming in~ I've had a Shaw's 30 x 18 for a year and love it. The label shows, doesn't bother me. I kind of like the vintage stamp effect it gives. I do not baby the sink one bit. I have 2 toddlers, so not only am I using the sink constantly, but I have no qualms about letting them stand on stools and "wash" toys, dolls, utensils, etc. No dings, no marks. I have the Rohl Modern Architectural Faucet with a pull down spray, which is great b/c I do have to "chase" when rinsing the sink. We're selling this house & I plan to have a Shaw's in my next kitchen.

I just wanted to update you all on my sink and faucet choice. I am going with the Franke 28 or 33 inch farmsink as well as a Franke faucet. I am chosing this sink because the interior dimensions are maximized. Also, if/when it chips, it is white through and through making damage less obvious. I checked out a Franke faucet at a local K&B shop, and was quite impressed with the water pressure in the side sprayer. Thank you again for all of your input and guidance!

kpowers, I would love to know how you like the Franke FH sink, size 33 x 20, the interiors dimension seems just perfect to me. Love the Shaw, but too narrow front to back for how I want to function. So please do tell all.
I may use a kwc tall systema pull down w/sprayer to reach all around the bowl, right rococogurl?
