Please help me pick a faucet finish

Our cabinets are here and will be installed next week. The countertops are supposed to be templated the following week and I still haven't decided on a faucet. I have the faucet nailed down but I am tormented by what finish to select.

It will be a traditional style kitchen in Rustic Alder. The floors are hardwood and very similar in color to the cabinet door. The granite is Golden River and the sink is a biscuit colored fireclay farmhouse sink. I've narrowed it down to four choices but can't seem to make any final decision. Can you please help me?

This is the actual door & finish - medium dark brown with reddish tint.

Here's the actual faucet in the Mahogany Bronze finish:

The contenders are : #4 Antique Copper (maybe too much red but goes well with door), #6 Mahogany Bronze (matches door/window hardware in rest of house but maybe too much brown), #2 Brushed Nickel and #3 Pewter (add a little bling and pick up on the silver/blue in granite).

I vote for Mahogany Bronze. I don't think pewter or brushed nickel will look as well with your biscuit-colored sink.

What color is your cab hardware going to be?

I also think you should go with the Mahogany Bronze. I don't like the Antique Copper since your cabinets and floor are the same tone, and the Antique Copper would be too much of the same reddish tone.

For your cabinetry hardware, I think you should do something similar to the Mahogany Bronze or an oil-rubbed bronze, something with the brown in it. I like how the silvery blue in your granite is just a highlight and adds an extra layer of interest in your countertop, but I personally don't like the idea of bringing out that silver into the metal finishes because they are cool tones. I think everything else in your kitchen is warm, from granite to cabs to floors, so you should stick with something warm in your metals.

Hmmm...I rethought it and realized that the Brushed Nickel has warmth in it.

Here's my revised advice (needed to think it through first!) and i think either option would work well.
1) You can do all brown/dark finishes in faucets and hardware. It would be Mahogany Bronze for faucet, and similar metal OR oil-rubbed bronze for hardware.
2) Do all Polished Nickel for hardware and faucet.

In my last msg second one is Pfister, and last two are Kraus. I usually look on faucet.com because they have a wide selection. I was playing off the square part of your faucet with that second choice, but I see what you mean about round stems. How about... This one is fun and unusual with curves and square... Curves: There are so many fun ones. Not much help am I? My honest opinion is the second one of the two you selected looks like a built in soap dispenser. Thus not my fav. There are too many other possibilities that won't encourage someone to push down on the top hoping for soap! ;) Good luck.

Hi, I am back for more advice! I decided to go ORB on faucet, DH is on board. We reopened the discussion of a wall mount. And here is a picture of the white sink I have- you cannot really tell but the white is just slightly off from the warmer white glazed paint of the vanity. It bothers me a little but it could be the lighting in my garage too. (ignore the stainless steel in photo that was when i was deciding on faucet finish) So I was wondering if I should switch to a stone sink like one of these? The white sink was cheap- like 70 dollars and these are more. I also saw a miners pan hammered one online that was sort of cool but I wondered it it would be too rustic. And its copper which is get another finish finding its way into my house- and it might disappear into the dark top: Thoughts?

Either SS or bronze will work. Which do you prefer? Remember that with an undermount sink, the faucet is up against the granite, not the sink, so you can use whichever you like. I have ORB hardware and pendants, but SS appliances and sink. I used a SS faucet.

North facing rooms will be dark most of the day and pick up purple tones from any paint. I would look carefully at the undertones and the formulas to ensure you don't have a lot of red and blue if you can't tell from the paint itself. I had a home with a north facing kitchen that I actually wanted to bring out the purple in so I purposefully went with a barely periwinkle gray that appeared full on periwinkle in that space. I suspect you don't want purple in your room. North facing rooms will also make your color appear deeper so you want something with a high light reflective value. My vote is for BM Gentle Cream.

My vote would be for the Mahogany Bronze. Having said that, though, what is your wall color or backsplash material and color? That all comes in to play. The pewter, for example, would look good if your backsplash or paint or tile is neutral. If it has any color in it at all...you get my drift! good luck. I'm struggling with my own backspash dilemna! Everytime I go out to look, I start to waffle. DH is getting very, very tired!

I vote for brushed nickel, as a relatively warm silvertone to help you get away from too much brown. Beautiful granite and beautiful faucet (Newport Brass?), btw.

I vote for the Pewter...I think it goes better with rustic Alder finish.

I like all of your choices *except* for brushed nickel. I think my favorite is pewter, except I agree with morton5 that I'm not so sure about it with the biscuit sink. Then I'm kind of torn between copper and mahogany bronze... the bronze seems too dark. The copper might be too blingy.

I guess I vote for mahogany bronze (with a warm spot in my heart for pewter).
