Show me your black appliances or mixed SS + black
Comments (9)I went through the same thing...only reversed. I have a black range and everything else is stainless. I have natural cherry cabinets which will darken over time. Initially, I didn't know what to do for the DW and fridge. I guess that I could have done paneled, but I am not a huge fan of hiding the appliances. My decision was made for me, because I bought them at a warehouse sale and stainless was what was available on sale. Here are some pictures. It is kind of hard to get the overall impression, but I think it looks OK....See MorePlease vote! all black appliances - 1 SS?
Comments (17)When they show those appliance pics they normally backlight the glass door items so you can see easily inside what "fits" and plan that while you purchase. In reality, glass front fridges tend to look like a black glossy hole (I don't mean that in a bad way LOL). So what I'm trying to say is that the first will read (design wise) as a black appliance with ss trim. As you upgrade or change out other items, I'd shoot for the same look, a bit of SS with black. The black looks great with your cabinets and floor (they sort of disapear). I rarely say this...but I think SS might sort of pop out too much if you had all of your appliance surfaces in 100% stainless. I personally would look to something with a bit more black and silver (SS) for that range top when you change it. It disapears a bit too much in the countertop IMO right now. A little relief to the long expanse of cream would be a nice thing. I love what you've done with the existing kitchen. It's so warm and rich. So many people shy away from dark colors, especially in a kitchen. I think your kitchen is a great example of how well rich and deep tones can work to make a space inviting. It's really lovely....See MoreBlack SS or ref SS?!?
Comments (9)Agree 100% with Sushipup1. A "no" to the black SS in your kitchen. You also don't need the appliances to be all the same brand. If you don't like the finishes offered by KA on their fridges, choose a different brand fridge. Many people think all-one-brand appliances are reminiscent of huge tract developments where the developer buys one brand of appliances by the truckload in the thousands so that it's cheaper and an easy install since every home has the same kitchen. It looks better to mix it up a bit but if you like all the same, then make the compromise on the smudgeproof finish....See MoreKitchen Facelift -- Stainless or Black Stainless Appliances
Comments (12)Thanks, Boxerpal! Interesting you shared the link to LilyAnnCabinets. They are actually located about 30 minutes from me here in Michigan. I saw the same cherry cabinets image on their Facebook page and contacted them last week as i really love their design and the backsplash tile that was used. I did replace my appliances with SS - only have have arrived (cooktop) and double wall-oven combo. I'm still trying to get used to the SS appearance - and I'm not loving the fingerprints on the fingershield / resistant finish...lol. Dishwasher is scheduled for delivery today and the refrigerator mid-summer. I will upload some more pictures of the desk space I plan to remove to create a new coffee & cocktails beverage center. and my personal vision board. I'm trying to decide between a soft white cabinet & the new Bonsai. I love the Bonsai - but not sure if I can commit to the color or rather pick it up in the space through accents (chairs, curtains, etc.). The entire process is overwhelming! My other dilemma -- my built in desk is 21" deep and new cabinets are standard 24" - which will definitely encroach on my kitchen space. Also, beverage fridges are also standard 24" - but thinking of recessing it in the wall. Also, because it's only 72-74" max in width to work with, I'm thinking i want a small compact beverage cooler. 18X21 would be ideal -- but haven't been able to find it. I also need to think about cabinet layout and where to put the plumbing / sink for the beverage station. I was thinking of offsetting it to the left side to give me more continuous counter space. Welcome any additional thoughts!...See Moreinflictionmitch
