Should the grout be the same color? Not necessarily. Will it look weird to use a darker gray on the floor and a lighter gray in the shower? Not at all. Any recommended colors for the shower and floor tiles along these lines? I've been getting stuff at Lowe's and they carry MAPEI Warm gray for the subway tile, and silver for the hex, if you lke a darker grey for the hex. Silver is actually a medium grey, but it'll appear alot darker with the white tile. Our bathroom isn't perfectly square. I think a colored grout seam that is uneven will be really obvious(that's my understanding where you would do any flubbing). Can you grout just the seam white? Can you skip grout and caulk it? Any suggestions here? Grout everything on the floor the same color. it'll actually show up more if you try doing what you suggested. It'll literally draw attention to it. What you want to dpo is make sure that you're square to the most obvious walls from the door. Especially with the hex, it won't be quite as obvious as you think, unless it's WAY out, and then nothing you can do will hide it, even using a blending color grout. One other thing-- that joint where the floor hits the walls should be caulked, but still caulk it with a caulking that matches the grout, both color AND texture. Does anyone know what the measure is for hex tile and subway? For subway, use unsanded, and for the hex, use sanded.

As glad posted, we used gray grout, but I'm not sure what kind or what color. The tile guy just presented me with the choices and I picked one. I didn't write down what it was. I used flat white subway tiles in the upstairs bedrooms and the first tile guy I had grouted it white (after I had repeatedly told our builder I wanted gray grout). To me, it looked terrible. To me, the pattern is the point of the subway tile and if you don't use a contrasting grout the pattern is lost. Needlesstosay, the tile guy had to dig out all the white grout and start over. We had a new and much better tile guy by the time we got to the kitchen and the laundry.

I too couldn’t find photos of glass tile with gray grout. All the photos I found had white grout. To add to my dilemma, the glass tile is textured. I’m currently renovating our bathroom and my designer suggested it. I’m not sure about it.

kats737, we just got our own set of lovely old-house surprises...turns out every renovation the prior owners made was made in the shoddiest way possible. Big holes cut into major beams...An entire 3rd floor shower held up by a few unconnected pieces of plywood and a whole bunch of plaster...Kitchen floor laminate put directly on rotted floor...we've basically had to gut 3/4 of the place. It's gonna be amazing when we're done, but I'm really not loving the prior owners at the moment. Or our home inspector! Mizlizzie, your bathroom is beautiful, thanks for posting! I'm going to go ahead with my creamy tiles and stop worrying about this one.
