Grey grout with creamy-white subway tile?

NoryW

We're doing a very vintage-y master bath remodel. Porcelain hex on the floor with pale grey grout (laticrete smoke grey). Subway in the shower enclosure.

Our bathroom designer (who doesn't have a ton of experience) assumed we wanted classic white subway, but we're actually leaning toward a warmer vanilla-white. Either color works OK with the floor tile. Her concern is that grey grout with warm-white will look dingy. Our concern is that bright-white tile will look too clinical.

The tile is only in the shower enclosure, nowhere else in the room. The room gets lots of sunlight.

Any advice on this would be hugely appreciated!
