My turn for BS help - White cottage kitchen dark green granite
Comments (19)island, I agree with you. I came to that realization today that I don't have the room for any special treatment behind the range since it has a back to it and there will be a vent hood going in so there is just not that much space available. I was trying to figure out how to get a center medallion of a cat! I know, too taste specific. DH suggested a piece of our granite but enough of that. So today I am trying to determine since the hood is not yet installed how much in height I really need behind the stove and if I can get away with simply raising the pieces behind the stove rather than running behind the stove down to the counter to avoid a seam. I found three different web sites with this type of tile but no selection of just one tile in different heights, just 8x20, 12x24 or the wall height which might work if it is tall enough to allow me to cut it in half because most of the wall I would need 18 high (the space from the counter to the bottom of the wall cabs) except for behind the stove. Silly me, I never considered a grout line, I thought they were just glued to the wall and simply lined up vertically! I have a lot to learn and I have to do more research. And yes, it does look great in that hallway but you know what I thought of when I saw it, it would take DH just one drop of the vacuum to break a tile. Silly me . . I'm still stressed over this whole affair even though I have a working sink finally after 8 weeks and tonight I am making my first home cooked meal - ravioli and meatballs and garlic bread. :-) mpagmom, your kitchen is SO BEAUTIFUL and I saw it today with those gorgeous tiles. What a calming space - I love it! That stove wall is a work of art and I do think the smaller tiles go great with the stove wall tiles. I hope you are enjoying your new space. Thank you for the link. Yes, I am planning on going with the beadboard tile. DH is against subways (although I love them) and I couldn't talk him in to an exposed brick look. I think the plainer backsplash would be very complementary to the granite. I can add more color with window valances or countertop accessories and an area rug. I noticed in SusieQ's beautiful kitchen that there is no top or bottom to the tile but you can buy "caps" or finishing ends on the tile web sites. Does anyone think that is necessary? Probably a picture of my stove wall would help. THANK YOU!...See MoreHave white marble counter on copper sink?
Comments (3)We haven't seen this issue before with our copper sinks, but without knowing the brand, it sounds like you're taking some smart precautions just in case there are impurities in the copper used to make your sink. In your original question, you mentioned possibly lacquering the top edge of the sink and we'd like to point out for you and others that would be a mistake, as lacquer is sure to crack and peel over time and will result in a very uneven, splotchy patina finish. Hope that helps, and best of luck! -The CopperSinksOnline.com Customer Service Team...See MoreCopper kitchen sink owners any regrets to go with copper?
Comments (43)@Laure Sykes I have a Kohler Artifact which is not identical but has a similar look. I bought it based on a lot of recommendations from people on houzz as well as trying it out in person. It is not cheap but not early as expensive as Waterstone faucets. I believe in quality but I am not sure how much better a faucet can be as it has now been installed for almost four years and has been trouble free and still looks great I don't remember what I paid prior to the pandemic but it is currently about $800 Kohler Artifact Faucet The spray has two a "berry spray" setting for softer sprays. My sink is from Havens Metal - it is very similar in quality and design to those from Rachiele....See MoreCopper Kitchen Sink Input
Comments (49)My pullout was part of the original design for my kitchen. It was why having a left rear drain for the sink was critical. This enabled me to have the garbage disposal to the side instead of the middle and so I could have the pullout under the sink. My kitchen is a small valley kitchen so I needed to maximize every inch. My life style isn’t such that I need a 42” sink but if the proportions look okay with the rest of your design and you can spare the counter, why not? @Joseph Corlett, LLC My Havens metal already had a patina so it looks like it did when it arrived except the splotches and streaks are in different places. 😂 But yes, copper sinks should have what is called a living patina in that they change because acidic foods will take the patina off for a shirt time and then air will change it back. This is different than the artificially patinaed finishes which will wear off and should be avoided. But a copper sink is not meant to be shiny and polished. If that kind of shiny look is your aesthetic, you definitely should not get a copper sink as it will always look lived in....See MoreCircus Peanut
