I have Medallion/Schuler cabinets in a Morel Vintage finish. They have a very subtle wheat colored glazing applied. You can take a look at them at Lowes. Lowes markets Medallion cabinetry as Schuler, although they both come out of the same factory. Medallion cabinetry is in the middle range in terms of cost.

I think Omega has some very nice cabinets with either a wheat or taupe glaze. Omega cabinetry is more expensive than Medallion. It's a bit hard to tell, but you might get an idea from my sink base: {{!gwi}}From Karen's Kitchen Project

How exciting it sounds like your dream is going to be wonderful!
Full Overlay with recessed panel and some molding. Creamy
cabinets with a Cherry islands,..lovely.
If you were looking for a specific brand of
cabinetry I would recommend Crystal cabinets. Expensive
but gorgeous! A less expensive brand would be Yorktowne.

Glazes? I have no idea which are the best. There will be
others on GW who can help. There is also a link by
Nodirthere who glazed her own cabinets. Check
it out!

I know you meant a light glaze for the cabinets but did
you also mean for the fixtures? Pewter? If you could
clarify for me I will search for you. Meanwhile here are
some pics of cabinets. I can post more just let me if
you need more. I tried to find cream colored cabinets
with a cherry like island, full overlay but not all are
glazed.

We are using Showplace cabinets in our remodel. They have six shades of glazing and there is no additional charge.

Karena, We are finalizing our decisions now--am waiting for pricing from Schuler at Lowe's and Medallion at Lakeville Industries to decide which to order. I've been debating my colors and was leaning towards Morel vintage. Seeing your picture made it definite. :-)

Glad it was of help to you. It is the Princeton Maple door, which is the full overlay one. It is very lightly glazed where the glaze hangs up in the corners in a subtle way and the doors and drawers were also ever so slightly distressed.

I fell in love with the Schuler finishes. I also have the heirloom black finish where some of the paint is sanded off to expose the natural wood underneath. Again, this is done in a very subtle way. I wanted a warm look, but not a heavy handed one. I am very happy with the finishes.

Thank you Boxerpups, Karena, Mcraney and Lindiver for all your wonderful pictures and tips. Basically, my inspiration kitchens are like jenos with a cherry island and scottielee again with a dark cherry island. As you can see, scottielee has a fantastic transitional style and I can see this taking shape in my kitchen without the glaze. The problem is picturing these type of kitchens with light glazing....they just seem to go French country which is not where I am thinking of heading - but may have to reevaluate. The light fixture I was contemplating is Framburg Hyperion and as you can see, that is the platinum finish that would match to polished nickel hardware. The shiny metal hardware really appeals to me as a jewelry accent. It just is hard to picture again with glazing, not really seeing much of it in these pictures. We are having the cabinets custom made, so I could probably tailor the amount of glaze down to the bare minimum. The other complicating factor, for me, is that so many of these kitchens use nickel, chrome, or silver color...and yet the rest of my house has so much gold. Ten years ago, when we bought much of our furniture and accessories, gold was so much more common. Not as easy as I would have hoped!

Actually, I don't really know exactly how to characterize my kitchen choices. I was going for "French country", so, yes, probably the cream cabinet with the glazing takes you there. The range is a French range, but the range hood and plate rack are a bit English/traditional. The appliances and black hardware will give it a modern feel as will the SS farmhouse sink.

Boxerpups is so great with all of her pictures, I just love that she has so many to pull from.

You should definitely go with own style and perhaps glazing isn't the right answer for you. At the end of the day, you are the one that will see it everyday. Maybe, DH can compromise on the matter?

That's a beautiful light fixture that you have in mind. I know what you mean about the trend going more towards nickel, chrome, and silver colors. I am struggling a bit with this fact as well. I might change my antique gold Chrystal chandelier over the dining room table now that I have the new kitchen in place. I feel like my kitchen is a palace now and the surrounding areas are shabby chique now ;-).

Jenos and scottiless have goregous kitchens, so you can't go wrong in that direction.

We have kitchen craft cabs in a colour called palomino that is cream with a hint of glaze. Problem is that it is so subtle it doesn't really show up in pics.
