Pics of my projection TV spot...how to modernize?

Folks,

We live in Florida and don't need a fireplace. When we were having our home built, we had the builder build a "box" for us to put our projection TV inside. See below:

This was 7 years ago, and Plasma TV's were just coming out and were $15-20k.

As it turns out, we NEVER watch TV in this room anyway. What can/should we do with the space?

The huge projection TV spot we created makes our home look out-dated, no? We don't need a fireplace so we can't use the spot for that.

If we put a plasma inside the space it will be hard to see the screen as the back wall is 3 feet deep. If we buy a plasma stand and have it sit on the stand...that is acceptable. However, who wants to pay good $$$ for a plasma and not need the thin profile? Plus, as I mentioned, we don't use the space.

What if we hire a custom built-in company to come in and install wood-work around the TV to make it appear like a built-in or plasma TV? This also sounds expensive!

Any suggestions on what we can do? Should we do anything? Maybe it looks just fine. Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
