Here's the latest. I love the Dior Gray and Pigeon Gray. Thanks anntique for that photo of the room. I was leaning towards the darker of the two, the Dior Gray, but I'm worried it might be too dark (I want to use it on the walls that are now lighter gray in the photos) and put the pigeon gray on the fireplace wall. But after seeing that photo, I wonder if I should go with pigeon all over and dior on the fireplace wall, and then in the foyer. Too many decisions and not enough daylight time at home to decide. I'm worried that the darker walls will make the room(s) look too long and narrow. But I love the way the floor lamp next to the green chair shines with the Dior gray behind it. As you can tell, I'm not afraid of dark colors, but I don't want to turn the place into a cave either. I did investigate getting a sample of the pewter mug at 1/2 strength, but there are no samples in Pitts. Paint, so I would have to fork over $22 for a sample. I think that the 2 colors I'm working with are really nice. I just don't know how to use them. Regarding the fireplace, it's real. Although it is only gas and even though it has a blower, it has a label that does say "for decorative purposes only"....no wonder why it makes the room colder. We have actually turned out the pilot light on it and don't even use it. We might replace the insert with something that is more efficient. As we are approaching the empty nest stage, it would be nice to be able to just warm up that room after work and not the entire house. I have the mirror there because the fireplace is extremely hideous and I just can't look at the yellow brass one more second. I think we are going to paint it with high heat paint so it just "goes away", but we'll see, maybe it WILL just go away and be replaced! I posted yesterday in a separate thread about the fireplace wall--If I do the lighter color see that Julianna Moore link above, does anybody thnk I should then paint the fireplace a darker gray to contrast? Maybe the white would look good. I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me on this. Thanks

Eleri Rose came into the world on 9/4 at 11:19AM at 8lbs 4oz. She is the 1st girl born into DH's side of the family for at least 2 generations so she will be spoiled. Her big brothers had planned to hide and live underneath their beds if they got a sister but they are very thrilled w/ her now. I got home Sun. & my house is remarkably in decent running order w/ the help of DH. He set me up w/ a lap top but it's not working right now. That just gives me more time to consider how to rearrange our LR! Projects never stop! That said, to make more room in the LR DH brought an old low steamer trunk down out of the attic to use as a coffee table in place of our giant round space consuming banana leaf one. I thought that it would be cool to mount industrial style wheels underneath to raise it a bit. Anyone know where I might try looking for some? Thanks so much for the pic. arrangement compliments! I was beginning my remodel at this time last year and i must have missed this.......it's so beautiful it deserves a second go round at the top of the forum for all the people who missed it. There aren't NEARLY enough comments on this kitchen. people must'vebeen outside enjoying the summer and not in the kitchen forums. Total eye candy.

Pal, I get that. Really I do. Especially since numbers have color for me. Just making a distinction between value and hue and, more significantly, between my monitor and the rest of the world. (I have never been able to wait the centuries it takes to download Cote de Texas photos, so that's not an option for me.) Things I would change, if anyone cares: 1. coffee table 2. add arms to sofa, for functional purposes. I'd get sick of fishing the pillows off the floor. 3. I'd prefer a similarly scaled, but differently composed focal artwork. Even a group of works would work, but I think the designer didn't want to mess with how a bunch of squares or rectangles would work into the recesses of the existing paneling. It could be done well, though. 4. I'd use looser floral arrangements. A bit wild. 5. The gold (is it leather?) chair by the desk. Bugs me the way the wood seems to try to match the desk legs. Sheesh, I think I'm getting really neurotic. PC, All I know is the mohair velvet I wanted for a sofa was $400/yard on drastic sale. Copies were still not inexpensive; and they just didn't have anyone near the OMG/gasp factor. So, yes, you could have a striking, similar room, but it wouldn't have the same impact, or the same detail and seductiveness. Fabric is present in huge amounts in that room, and it really adds up! It's also difficult to find upholstered pieces with the right proportions, not to mention remnants that are large enough for entire sofas with loose cushions and throw pillows. Okay, just whining in frustration here. I'm bad at estimating costs of rooms, but I do know part depends upon what had to be done--was paneling there? Was reclaimed wood used? Remilled? Refinished? Labor to cover ceiling and upper portion of wall (is that fabric or a faux finish?)? That an oxblood vase? Etc.
