Comments (64)Phylhl, Ceramic tile is a relatively maintenance-free product that requires little continuing care beyond regular cleaning. Most cleaning can be done with a damp cloth and a gentle non-acidic soap. More resistant staining such as calcium spotting and soap scum can be handled using specially designed cleaning products such as Miracle Sealants Mira Clean I product. Other manufacturers such as Stone Tech also offer products specially formulated for ceramic tile care. Take care to avoid âÂÂover the counterâ ceramic tile cleaners that contain phosphoric and glycolic acids that could etch some ceramic tile surfaces. Because crackle glazes are prone to absorbing stains, you may want to consider using a penetrating sealer. In areas that experience regular moisture, such as showers, resealing crackle glazes is a necessary maintenance procedure but for a kitchen backsplash, not completely necessary. If you don't seal the tile the crackles will darken over time giving it an antique type look. Some people love this, it is just up to you on what you want to do. Using a sealer does not affect the quality or appearance of the tile, just make sure you don't use too much or the sealer will leave a film on the surface. I would recommend sealing once a year just as you would with your stone counter tops. Thank you again for sharing and I hope this helps! Comments (29)Romy thanks for the pic of the Jet Mist. I have not been able to locate it in the honed version locally but would want to see it first before I decide Joy that's a really pretty granite and I have not seen it around here. Thank you all for the nice comments on my floor, paint color and cabinets. This build has been an uphill battle and I am clearly unable to make a quick decision at this point. Three years so far...oiy! The base cabs are still out getting repainted. I'm heading to Jersey this week to look at one place that has honed carerra and the leathered steel gray. They also have soapstone but I'm finding the quotes are ridiculous compared to the other choices. I could get the marble, trash it for a few years, then swap out for new marble and still come out ahead $-wise! The island will be stained oak and I really wanted marble for that...Maybe the leathered gray steel would look ok on the island? So I put sliced lemon juice all over half of the 24" x 30" honed piece I have. What was that urban legend about Meg Ryan...? I'll let you know how it turns out....See MoreWhite Kitchen Reveal (long post with photos)
Comments (60)I had to look at your kitchen again and I know these are the cabinets I want and after my deadline, I will get a price from Home Depot. Thank you! Love the color also as it is white but not stark and I am glad you had white things in the picture to see this. Love the hardwood chosen also. I also love your Santos Mahogany floors and your doggie!...See Moreromy718
