Removing wall paper
Comments (14)This is so FUNNY in not a ha ha way. Here I am four years later actually getting to the job. One wall done--paper off. At the moment I am washing, washing, washing to get the Diff and glue off the wall. DD#2 moves otu this weekend adn then we can remove furniture from the room I am working in and I will get to the other walls. I did use a tiger..to get water to the paper layer. I have never had a problem with it. I really was hoping to not have to do this in two steps..first the vinyl then the paper backing. I obviously forgot the advise from the experts that was offered. I will try on the next wall but I will have to try and pull the vinyl from the bottom up as there is a boarder that is glued down TIGHT. The elbow grease it takes to get the glue off is insane. Where is the miracle product that just dissolves it? I am using vinegar and water, trying to avoid the TSP. Well back at it. Thanks for checking back in!!...See MoreWhat is flock wallpaper and do I want it in my home?
Comments (23)thanks marti8a. Funny, I was just asking DH how scaffolding on a curved staircase would work....Bec I'd really need to get right up to the top (no paintbrush on a pole for a wallpapering job!) Good points re dust. I find that cat hair clings to a bare wall as it is. On the bright side, the higher up bits of wallpaper wouldn't get damaged by kids' dirty fingers....and toys scraping the walls after being launched down the stairwell. I just can't picture me enjoying a solid colour on that wall, and the painted stripes on my livingroom wall would be fun, but again, hard to do bec of the height of the stairwell (plus, I've already done stripes). I wonder if a couple of large wall paper panels (mounted to plywood or something) would give me the patterns that I want. I can't see running a chair rail and then wall papering below it If you look closely, you can see the large horizontal tone on tone stripes in my LR (and the too small area rug - I'm trying to stop the chairs from sliding down the hallway, while I figure out either a good underpad for the hide rug, or, follow my heart and acquire a silky shag rug - hee hee hee!)...See MoreWall paper help
Comments (46)I really like it! I'm seriously considering adding wallpaper to our powder room, which is nuts after what I went through to get it down :) You mentioned it is an old house, have you checked your heights along this hallway to make sure they are fairly even? As an older house owner, I know I have a few spots that aren't completely level. I wouldn't want a repeat pattern to look wonky after I spent so much on fantastic paper....See MoreWallpaper the inside of this kitchen cabinet??
Comments (19)I need to play around with some platters and some subtle color. I don't want to commit to anything huge yet. Rebecca - my sofa is wonderful. It's from Lee Industries - their "Coverall" collection. The covers come off and they are completely washable. We've had this slipcover set for about 8 years. The couch for 13 years. We originally purchased it in a dark rusty/red color, but when we moved to the mid-west from the East coast, I wanted a change. I just chose a fabric and they made the new covers and shipped them to me. I can't say enough about Lee's furniture. We have two boys and a non-shedding dog. The covers wash beautifully. I was looking at papers like the ones you posted…. thank you for sharing!...See MoreRelated Professionals
