I'm thinking I would paint both of them mustard and accent with red. Maybe add some red and gold curtains.

I agree, but if you must choose paint the kitchen in red. There is less wall space.

I was like you, I so wanted a red wall, but loved the yellows also. I ended using Porter Paint Lion's Mane on my dining room wall and will be using lots of red accents. But at one time I had 4 different reds and 3 different yellows on the wall. Here's my yellow wall:

I would say it depends on a few other factors, such as what color are your kitchen cabinets, and how much wall there is in the kitchen (maybe you have a lot of wall space, depending on the design of your room), etc. Can you post pics?

I would have to see pics to give you a definite answer, but in general I love red kitchens. Plus there is usually less wall space than in a LR so it's not quite as overpowering. Can you post some pics?

I love the red/mustard combination also, and my kitchen is the red room, with the main living area the mustard color. The red seems to work well in the kitchen, as others have mentioned, because the cabinets are creamy white, the floors are light, and there is less wall space, so the color is not too overwhelming. Our dining room is SW Rembrandt Ruby and the adjoining living room is SW Hubbard Squash. Both rooms have oriental rugs that have red and gold in them. Both rooms have the same original white oak flooring. The rugs tie the 2 spaces together.

My kitchen/eating area has two bayed-walls and has two entryways - - not too much wall space I guess. The cabinets are maple with a medium dark stain.

We have red in the Kitchen and gold in the family room and dining room. Dining room is through a doorway, but family room is open to Kitchen.

Wish I had a more current one with the curtan panels in the FR that are gold, red and green; they really tie it all together.
