paint color for nursery - pic

The first pic is my crib bedding with paint swatches. I was suddenly inspired by my son's Mexx shirt (teal color to the right) and found a Sherwin-Williams color to match - #6488 Grand Canal (2nd darkest on color swatch). The other pics are the furniture I'm using in this room. What do you think of the teal color? Is it too much, especially with the black furniture? The room has 2 windows, white ceilings and white trim, plenty of light!

I know the modern style that you see on HGTV general suggest to go light and neutral on the walls but I'm a color-loving, retro junkie and this color kinda appeals to me. Oh, and it's a boy by the way!!

Personally, I'd do the khaki so that I could do whatever son and I wanted decor-wise as he aged. If you wanted to stick with the blue, the second or third color looks nice with the crib sheets, but it'd be hard to find decor to coordinate with it later on.

There's all sorts of research to indicate that people are calmer with calm colors - I'd be all about a calm baby even if it didn't suit my design sensibility lol

Rose, I like the teal that you chose, but it might be too dark for the whole room. Babies respond well to bright colors - who knows how the pastel for babies trend got started. If you really like color, why not paint each wall a separate color from the color strip, starting with the one that matches the shirt and going lighter from there? Lightest color would go on the ceiling.

You will be spending a lot of time in there, so the color has to "sing" to you. I've never been a fan of brown and black together, BTW.

My BR is a deep aqua with cherry furniture and white sheers and bedspread. I love it. Go with what you love.

Ye gads, I thought I put a link. It's from anthropologie and pretty much the same price as all the rugs I've been looking out. Thanks for the comments about Harry. He has such a great personality and we adore him SO much!! Who knew being a parent would be so much fun :) So now I'm trying to decide which paint to use w/ the mural. I ordered it so hopefully it will come by this weekend so I can see it in person but I have to turn in paint colors this weekend too. I'm thinking either Nimbus Gray: or James River Gray: or perhaps a lighter blue/gray would be more appropriate? Any suggestions?? juddgirl, that is precious. There's a thread on conversations about birthday parties for little ones -- and it started me just a'missing the heck out of the days when my little guys were actually little! My youngest just hit the big 1 - 0. And my oldest just got a physical for winter sports and he's coming in at 5' 10, 190 lbs and the new shoes we bought are a men's size 14. He's a moose. Point being, I totally relate to not wanting to take down the quilt! I'd hold on to displaying it for as long as you can get away with it!!! Those days go fast and you can't get 'em back. (now I need a tissue) Anyhoo, I paint virtually with Photoshop for the most part and pretty much do exteriors exclusively. Every now and then an interior room gets in the mix.
