Okay, here's what I'm thinking, having no idea of your financial constraints, etc. There are so many fun fabrics, paint colors, etc., that would all look beautiful with what you have already described in the rest your home (grays/blues/greens/yellows/coastal feeling). I would completely forget about the glider cushion, and create the nursery I want, and then replace the cushion if the green doesn't go. Glider cushions are available everywhere from Walmart on up. Spend a bit of time on your favorite retailer's sites, Houzz, etsy, pinterest, etc. until you get some ideas that really resonate with you and Harry!

I love the gray/blue paint color of the middle two inspiration pics.

I wouldnt worry about the green cushion, you can always drape a blanket or afghan of the right color over it.

Although in looking at the pics again, the middle rooms are more monotone and have a more grownup elegant feel. If you want something more crisp and bright, a yellow would look nice with the navy accents.

My daughter's room is a very cheery yellow, and pretty much every color goes with it. Originally, it was going to be gender nuetral with baby blue accents, then when we found we were having a girl, we added in some pinks and purple.

So really, you need to also decide what kind of 'vibe" you want the room to have. I love being in my daughter's room because it is so bright and cheery.

Like PP said, ignore the glider and do what you like.

My glider is green as well. I wouldn't let that hold you back from the colors you love.

Polly, yes thank you! After I posted that thread, I remembered about the green chair and had second thoughts about my nautical theme. I didn't even realize your glider was green too! That makes me feel better.

Kristin, thanks for the thoughts. I didn't think about just throwing a blanket over it too.

I'm thinking about starting by finding a rug that has some of the green in it with other colors I like and then pulling a neutral color off it to paint with (yellowish or gray/taupe). Then if we have another baby, we can move Harry to the guest room and keep 2nd baby in first room too regardless of boy/girl.

I can post more pics if you'd like. I have a navy rug with a border of anchors. The color on the walls is a greenish yellow and worked well as a little girl room and little boy room.

Yes, I'd start with a rug . . .I would not worry about green in it unless you want green. Don't make it be about the chair.

Call me crazy but I fell in love with this wall mural and it's the exact same size as Harry's wall, so I'm going for it! My green chair will fit right in and I'm thinking about a blue/gray wall.

Ye gads, I thought I put a link. It's from anthropologie and pretty much the same price as all the rugs I've been looking out. Thanks for the comments about Harry. He has such a great personality and we adore him SO much!! Who knew being a parent would be so much fun :)

So now I'm trying to decide which paint to use w/ the mural. I ordered it so hopefully it will come by this weekend so I can see it in person but I have to turn in paint colors this weekend too.

I'm thinking either Nimbus Gray:

When my son was little his favorite book was, "Harold
with the Purple Crayon"...when his wife was still in
the hospital, he painted 'Harold with the Purple Crayon
over the crib with his new baby's name as a surprise for his wife...It made my heart
skip a beat when I saw it...he had already painted his favorite
charactors on the other walls from his favorite books, but Harold was just sooo precious.

Now I'm wondering if I should go with a taupe color or gray. Here are 3 I'm looking at. I'm a bit design challenged but I want the mural to be center stage and the other walls/ceiling to look like the sky blending into it.

I LOVE that mural! I would go with a blue for the side walls, not gray, but I am biased against anything too tan or too gray. While I think its pretty, its not something I could live with. But, your preferences may be different.

Once you get the mural, you can decide better what color is best as you will see the actual colors.

We have a "cow jumped over the moon" wallpaper mural in my daughters room, and I love it.

I love that mural too! I've seen some of her work locally. She does beautiful scarves and acrylics.
