I think they are too dark and too much the same color as the other 4 you have in the room already.

You have a lovely victorian thing going there....those pictures almost look like a southwest theme...too bright....almost like paintings on velvet.
I would look more for a portrait type of picture or a couple of floral prints...maybe a still life with some flowers.

You are right about the draperies. To me, the very-large-scale pattern is way distracting, not soothing, and the colors clash with most everything in the room. If you do end up taking them down, the new ones could be a rich tone-on-tone type, for example, a solid color with a beautiful same-color embroidery pattern on it. Any drapery with a noticeable color pattern in it would steal the eye away from other more-beautiful things in the room, like whichever artwork you choose.

I love your bed, and dresser. Seems so romantic.

The art seems so impersonal to me, but maybe the pictures remind you of something or someplace? I think a bedroom should be filled with things that relax you, call up a specific (romantic, calming, whatever) mood, and make you happy. These new pictures look like the other ones and seem more generic.

And yes, the curtains need to move on.

ideefixe, no the art doesnt remind me of anything. When I picked the 4 dancing girls(couple of yrs ago), I just thought they were interesting, but when I picked the 2 new larger ones now, I was biased on the color, thought they would match up with the girls in there. But I guess, like Roseabbey said it indeed is too much of that color.

I actually like the 2 'new' pictures. It's the 4 pics by the sofa that I feel are out of place in your room. I think once you change your wall color to a neutral, the 'new' pics would be nice.

Charlie, its funny that there was a point when I thought just as what you said. I was like, may be they will work with the new wall color. I know some would say to paint first and then accesorize, but we just painted the whole house and redid the large FR twice, if I take the word "paint" out now, DH would give me a look. So waiting for some time until he forgets the paint episode(which is easy, he forgets fast lol!)

I can relate. I have been in various stages of painting my interior rooms for the last 2 months. I'm definitely over it....LOL! When I saw the two pics on the floor (leaning against the wall), I liked them with your carpet color.

I know that you are against it, but the best thing to do is to paint and get the new curtains up before buying any wall art. Really.

If you need to keep the walls blue for a while, it would be better to leave the walls bare than to have garish orange/red art up there waiting for new paint color to go behind them years down the road. IMHO of course.

Putting flaming orange art up on a pastel blue wall because you are going to paint the wall beige sometime in the future, would be like wearing orange shoes with a blue dress because you are have plans to buy a beige dress someday that will go great with the shoes.

If you are not going to be painting for quite a while you may decide on another whole color for the room when it comes time to paint than what you have decided already now. You won't like the art then.

Judging from the style of the bed, both styles of lamps, the floral arrangements, and the new art that you like, I am guessing that you wish for a British Colonial look for the room. I would start browsing British Colonial look rooms in blogs and such to become more confident in selecting colors and accessories. When it comes time to paint you will know just what to do with accessories. Or maybe down the road you will decide to take the room in another direction possibly going completely Victorian or do something Eclectic.

Let me amend my previous post. British Colonial does not use a lots of color and you seem to be attracted to bright reds/oranges and detailing in furniture. I am thinking that you are looking for a Moorish or Moroccan feel for the room. Yes? No? Tell me if I am off base here. I am trying to understand your overall vision for the room. I think I see now how the furniture pieces you have can pull together to mimic this look.

This bed in the link below looks something like your Eastlake Victorian style bed, and I can see now how mixing the Queen Anne end tables with the colorful ceramic striped lamps can be a 'go' with a few more of the right accessories like maybe embroidered pillows on the bed and batik ones on the red sofa. Your new wall art purchase would fit in. The photo below has the beige natural looking walls too. Does this look close to the decorating direction you want?

No, the drapes aren't mixing well, either. I guess that's where the blue paint came from? I agree, another paint color would really do a lot for your furnishings. It would probably also help you to see your room better as you try to pull it all together.

Well, looking again, the bedside lamps don't really look tropical in style, but they do pick up on the colors. Those look more like a Morrocan theme you might be thinking. I like those with the bed, but the shades look very traditional : /

Thank you for putting your thoughts on it and giving me great ideas. I'm a novice at decorating. I didnt follow a style while picking up those accessories. Up until now I didnt know what a British Colonial style is. I did some lookup and your links for Moroccon style and no, Moroccon is not what I've imagined, its a little bit too much for me. I looked up Victorian and thats close to my imagination, but again I dont want too much of that either, just want it to be soft victorian.

Squirrel, no the paint color didnt come from the drapes, they just happen to match but I had seen a pic some where with my kind of bed and very nice soft blue walls and was going after that, but my color turned out to be very off of what I had imagined. I'm planning on painting again in a yr or so.

I like the below drapes, I might or might not buy these just yet but they got into my list as of now. What do you think?

Ok, the large paintings are going back. Never thought decorating would be so hard to do, but learning slow and steady. I just cant wait to get this room done and move on to others. I feel like I'm stuck in this room. :)

Since you have identified your style as 'soft Victorian' these shiny gold drapes with that scroll print are a 'no go'.

If you had said you were looking for a 'coastal Mediterranean' feel for the room or something along that line they would be perfect.

Since you say you have looked up room styles and found ones that appealed to you, do you have any pictures of your inspiration rooms to post here? There are many persons here who could offer advice on how to achieve a similar look to the rooms you favor.
