that drawer under your cabinet to the counter (dish hutch)
Comments (12)Shoot. Phone auto corrected. What I meant to say is that I need to approve the cabinet drawings soon so if there are changes I need to make them quickly. Autumn, I don't know 100% what I would put there as the main reason I wanted the drawer there was so I can set something on the counter in front of it and so open the door, like a stack of plates or a couple bowls, etc. Things that comes to mind are flatware or take out menus. Not large bowls or Tupperware or anything like that....See MoreWould You Please Show Me Your Dishes and/or Glasses in Drawers?
Comments (22)I have a similar system as hockeymom and lisa . . . I bought pegboard and the uprights separately. The only thing I don't like is that the uprights ar little sharp on the edges and I occasionally scrape a knuckle. Next kitchen I'll track down the dowels or go for the Ikea lifters, which I think are neat. My drawer is a 36" pots and pans drawer and it works great. I do, however, keep my glassware in an upper cabinet....See MoreHow wide are your dish drawers?
Comments (14)My dish drawers are 36" wide and I had my cabinet guy make them sturdy enough to hold 125 pounds. I weighed my dishes = 71 pounds. I had pegboards at my last house and found they weren't necessary, so didn't go that route this time. I also have 27" drawers for pots and pans weighted to hold 90 pounds and my pots/pans aren't that heavy (since there are two drawers). As for liners, I use Cushy Cupboards and really like the way it functions. As far as "pretty", it is actually a bit boring - just plain white (which is great for me as I don't really need the cupboard liner to be a focal point). It is easy to cut and fit, easy to wipe clean, can be washed (but I haven't really needed to) and is much easier to install than contact paper. It is a bit spendy, but when I got mine a couple of years ago, I found a great online sale somewhere. When I downsized and moved last year, I took all of my cupboard liners with me and re-cut them for new house cabs and drawers....See MoreDishes in drawers vs. cabinets?
Comments (34)We have a surplus of drawers, so don't judge by us. But we are set up as follows: 30" left of range: top - cooking utensils middle - pots/pans/lids bottom - baking 30" right of range: top - spices, measuring cups/spoons, potholders middle - glasses bottom - pyrex, corning, etc. 36" right of DW: top left - flatware top right - nothing(!) middle - 8-piece place setting (dinner, salad, bowls) plus assorted ramekins and small serving dishes. bottom: larger frying pans and mostly empty. 36" across from fridge: top left - recipes, bag closing thingies. top right - bags, wraps middle - tupperware bottom - crock pot, toaster, paper plates and bowls. Our mixing bowls and small appliances (tiny crock pot, Foreman grill) are above the fridge. Our cookie sheets are in the pantry. Our stemware is across the room in the wet bar area....See Morefun2cook
