I think I'd like the gray with the white sink. The gray would be the closest match to the tub and toilet and don't worry about marble. Unless you smash it with a hammer, it will last and last. I think marble is a nicer look but that's just my opinion.

That's sort of what I was thinking, though I am the queen of indecision... I thought it might sort of blend more. One more question for you or anyone.... any suggestions for hardware on the cabinet which I just finally got around to finishing up so it looks much better... any suggestions for finish on faucet?Its always so helpful to have other sets of eyes ...

I think brushed nickel would work the best since it's in the same color family and easily maintained.

We have a very similar wall color in our master bathroom and we used a carrara marble top. I'm very happy with the white and grey with the walls. As far as the finish on the faucet, I would agree that brushed nickel or chrome would look very nice.

Are you totally in love with having the vanity white? Having the vanity white will make the white sink stand out and accent the fact that it does not match the other fixtures. Painting it gray would make it blend in and not be such a stark contrast to either counter choice. Just a thought. I know you just finished painting it, but you did say you wanted any suggestions.

Have you considered framing the mirror? If you do a search here, you can see many examples of what a huge difference that would make for the room. It is not all that expensive and you can even buy kits made for the job that are easy for a novice to install.

Brushed nickel hardware will look great. The room will look great.

I'd recommend the gray marble and brushed nickel. Black is stunning; however every water spot, soap drip, toothbrush slosh, etc is evident. It's stunning and beautiful when clean and not in use but I was never so glad as when we got rid of the black. The marble will last fine just don't use abrasive cleaners or you'll get little scratches.

Thanks for the feedback- it kind of confirms what I had thought, but its always nice to get confirmation. I had toyed with painting the vanity a really dark brownblack, but went with the white.
Dillydally-I have pretty traditional taste, at times transitional, but not contemporary at all so I would not care for the gray cabinetry. It would probably work nicely as you suggest, but not for me.Definitely thinking about framing the mirror..
I think I will likely go for the marble and some sort of silver tone faucet. This is a guest room that doesnt get used all that much, but is on the first floor. Selling is in the pipeline in a few years, so I do want to update but not spend big bucks.

Just as the shower curtain got me inspired, so will the marble. Now I can try to figure out the new lighting and faucet and hardware.... I agree that nickel or chrome will go great... If anyone has any great ideas there, particularly great deals, mention away. For what its worth, I think the vanity top has the holes for widespread faucet. (that wouldnt be my first choice, but its fine).

Your bathroom looks similar to mine, except mine was all green. I replaced the vanity with carrara marble top and today got the tub refinished to white. It looks a lot better than the old vanity.

I agree with Dilly-Dally about painting the vanity gray but live with it first and see if you love it, if not paint it gray.

wow Jane that looks lovely. Was the top a "ready made " one ? Very nice.
And while I think aesthetically painting the vanity gray might be wise, even if I was ready to paint it again, I just don't want a gray vanity. (not that there's anything wrong with a gray vanity, it just is not me).
I think the carrara will kind of blend the white and gray and not be an issue. (I hope anyway).

It was a remnant left in the yard and the girl gave it to me very cheap. She included the sink and drilled the holes. The vanity is 48". Very white, but now - so is the tub!
