Yuck...Look at this Baby Nursery
Comments (70)boopadaboo, for sure there is no rush on their own rooms. All our kids have slept mostly with us for a few years except #5. She does not sleep well with us (took awhile for me to figure this out) so she is mostly in her crib. But as others have said, most kids do not spend tons of time in their rooms, esp if you live in a 2 story. I also think room sharing is fine-- or it better be because most of my kids have to share. :) My objection with the original room was more of a worry of the future, LOL, that it seemed like it was trying to appeal to adults. Sometimes children are seen as small adults (and then unrealistic expectations are set). A room does not have to be garish to appeal to children-- on the contrary. I am assuming unfairly, however, that these parents will view the child as anything other than a child. I' m still worried about that mirror, though....See MoreBoy/Girl mixed Nursery help!
Comments (14)have you checked out HGTV's Rate my space. I was looking on there last night and saw some very beautiful kids rooms/nursery's. One room (for boys, but it could be unisex!) RED bedding, with accents of blue, cream, brown, etc. The bedding was PB with ivory looking stars on it. Didn't scream boy to me. Very cute! Green walls. :o) Saw another boy nursery on there that had caramel apple colored walls. Crib was cream with glaze. Bedding was pale blue toile. So very cute. I've seen that exact toile fabric in pink as well. So you could paint the room the caramel brown, do her bed in the pink fabric, and his in the blue. Wow, would that be cute. Then do their accessory pillows, etc. in creams, ivorys, chocolate. It's much cuter IRL than it sounds. LOL! If you like shabby chic, you could always just do various shades of vanilla in the room. If your children won't be playing in their room (ie: markers and messes) than creams/ivory's/whites would be sooo pretty. :o) Can't wait to see what you do. Congrat's on expecting!!...See Moreneed help with design of baby boy nursery - Car Theme
Comments (13)Roo, I recently went to our local decorator showhouse and they had a room with a car theme so here are some ideas: The neatest thing I saw was an oval mirror with a black frame with matchbox cars glued to the frame to look like a racetrack. They also had valances and a bedskirt made from pices of (what looked like) felt with pictures of various license plates. It looked like they used photo print material and ironed it onto the pieces of felt. They had a seat from the back of a van as seating (it was kind of neat, and kind of odd simultaneously - if that makes sense.) They also had 1 wall covered in maps as the theme had a travel element to it as well. I know these are not exactly baby oriented but if you decide to go with cars, the ideas might get you thinking. I do think the oval mirror was so cute and could be cheap and easy and would be okay for a baby too. Pam...See MoreSearching for a light turquoise paint for baby girl's nursery.
Comments (31)I've only seen plantation shutters in home where it is more of a cohesive look done throughout the house--or at least the entire floor back or fornt of the home. So, while I do agree, that would be an excellent choice, I would keep in mind what I wanted to do with the other rooms in making a final decision. For what it is worth, I have three children and have used 2" wood blinds in all of their room when they were young. What I did was to knot the cords together so that it would be impossible to coke or strangle on the cord. Most blind companies have made their products baby safe, so it that is a concern, I would keep that in mind. It is nice to have light control with young children in order to faciliate sleep. I think a layered look works well with the shutters or blinds paired with either stationary panels or valances for pattern and softness. I generally perfer panels over valances, though with young toddlers, valances may be a more practical choice so they are not tugging on the panels or getting them dirty with sticky fingers. So, my vote would probably be for valances as most likely, you will find yourself redoing the room 3-4 years from now when you phase out the crib and, valances would be easy to change at that time....See MoreAnglophilia
