We didn't do a full bath -- a wetroom shower with a lot of the constraints you describe. It's all a little chaotic still until we do the finish flooring in the rest of the room. (more construction dust has also settled in). I'll try to post pics later, but we tiled the whole floor, with a slope and drain in the center. There's a rain can type showerhead there; shower controls and hand shower on the side. The sink is to one side of the room and the toilet on the other. The space is big enough for a tub as well. Right now nothing closes off the shower. We might go for a bamboo screen. The openness feels odd to my husband.

I also dislike apron sinks and, while I love the look of vintage, it wasn't going to work for my everyday needs. I installed the Bakersfield overmount in a very small condo kitchen and it was great. I could wash my 13 lb Schnauzer in it, but it still didn't take up too much space. Yes, washing dogs in my kitchen sink might be crude to some but haven't you ever found something in tupperware in the back of your fridge..... I digress. This time around I have more room and was looking at the Cape Dory. I found Ceco sinks locally and ended up with one of these instead. It's the same dimensions as the Cape Dory without predrilled holes (for undermount). Also the drain is in the center, but towards the back. Finally Ceco (UM 74, I think) started making sinks in the 1920's so I figure at least the company is in the right ballpark. Oh, and my 6 1/2 lb Yorkie could have a pool party in there! Marcolo, I just literally laughed out loud at your comment! Too funny! I kept thinking it was just like the Cape Dory but with the bonus of a slant to the off-set drain and the disposal to the side. We were trying to think of cons today. The plumbing CS lady said that a downside would be that if the faucet wasn't over the drain then there might be more splashing. I pointed out that if it was a double basin sink it would be the same type of set-up though, right? She agreed. We both noted the off-set disposal. Then she said that if the cabinet wasn't large enough and the disposal was large it could be an issue. But my sink cabinet is 36" so I'm fine. In the end, she said that she'd get it if she had to choose between the two and wished it had been available for her redo a year ago. So it looks like the pros outweigh the cons. It's my Cape Dory but better? Yay!

I really appreciate all your comments and suggestions. In rethinking this, we’ve decided to move the dining room table to the left of the kitchen, ditch the banquette and turn the former dining room into a morning room/library. (I am having trouble giving up my existing house and I was attempting to take many of the rooms we now have and recreate them in this proposed house. Both my husband and the building designer had suggested otherwise but it wasn’t until reading all your comments that I finally realized this just wasn’t going to work. ). I think this arrangement will work really well. Greenfish1234, I love the house pictured in the link you sent. Our proposed house looks very similar, flipped so the garage is on the opposite side, with a shed dormer above. It will then have the master bedroom wing where the garage of your picture is. And there is enough room over the mud room to connect the bonus room with the rest of the upstairs and include a bathroom there. I also think your suggestion about finishing the bonus room later is a good one, and that was our original intent; however, when I tried to fit my husband’s TV into the plan downstairs, it just didn’t work. We compromised by deciding to finish the mud room sooner, rather than later. And if it seems too expensive, we’ll just have it finished to the drywall and flooring and my husband can do the rest later. He’ll be retired at that point, his “shop” will move into the basement and he’d love having a project to work on. My existing furniture will fit there perfectly and it will get the morning sun.
