Kohler's new Riverby cast iron sink? Anyone seen it?

I've been set to go with the single bowl Cape Dory. But when I was sitting at the plumbing place today, my CS person said they just came out with the similarly priced Riverby:

Has anyone seen it in person? Can you see pros or cons of it compared to the Cape Dory? Thanks!

Apparently it has the power of speech!

The Riverby self-rimming single basin kitchen sink features a clean, versatile design to compliment any decor

On a more useful note, it looks like the Riverby has an offset drain with appropriate interior pitch, which is something a lot of people here like because it allows you to put things in the sink without blocking the drain.

Yay, good things come to those who wait (we delayed our kitchen remodel). That's exactly the type of sink I wanted from Kohler so thanks for posting about it, babs! I haven't seen it, even though I toured Kohler's Design Center in Kohler, WI this August.

LOL, Marcolo! You crack me up.

The other plus is that the garbage disposal is also off to one side, which frees up space beneath the sink.

I've seen this sink in person, and it is beautful. I don't have it, but I think it would be fairly easy to keep clean because it has a texture to it.

Monika and HU - I wonder if you're having problems because the Kohler plant had a fire several months ago and are really backed up in production, and thus, things are being rushed or done half ass to try to keep up with orders. I just replaced a double sink Kohler (can't remember the model but it was 20 years old) and wanted to go with a single basin. When I looked into Kohler, I was told (by Kohler) that they were back ordered nearly 6 months. (You could get it in almost any color but white, and white is what I wanted). I didn't have that time to wait so I went with a stainless steel (also by Kohler).

I noticed a crack in the front corner of our (less than) 6 month Kohler Whitehaven sink. Immediately a pit in my stomach! This sink was installed on 11/14/22. We spent a pretty penny remodeling our very dated kitchen and are thrilled with how it looks. We contacted Kohler whowhichwhowhowhichwho said they will replace sink. We are waiting to talk to someone about cost associated with reinstalling a new sink to replace a defective sink. Ours is undermount and don't feel as though we should be on the hook for this expense. Anxious to hear back from Kohler. If their product wasn't defective we wouldn't be needing to discuss cost associated with this repair.

Marcolo, I just literally laughed out loud at your comment! Too funny!

I kept thinking it was just like the Cape Dory but with the bonus of a slant to the off-set drain and the disposal to the side.

We were trying to think of cons today. The plumbing CS lady said that a downside would be that if the faucet wasn't over the drain then there might be more splashing. I pointed out that if it was a double basin sink it would be the same type of set-up though, right? She agreed. We both noted the off-set disposal. Then she said that if the cabinet wasn't large enough and the disposal was large it could be an issue. But my sink cabinet is 36" so I'm fine. In the end, she said that she'd get it if she had to choose between the two and wished it had been available for her redo a year ago.

So it looks like the pros outweigh the cons. It's my Cape Dory but better? Yay!

I selected the Cape Dory and we moved into our home 4 weeks ago. I just love it BUT if the Riverby had been available when we made our plumbing selections, I would have selected that one for the offset drain. I also got the sink grid that is an additional purchase so there's not an issue with the drain being in the middle of the sink and whatever you have in the sink is blocking the drain, etc.

I couldn't get my granite fabricator to install my Kohler
cast iron sink with a positive reveal -- he refused to do it.

So if that is a look you want,
think about how you will make your case
in advance.

Francoise, thanks for the photo! I saw that kitchen a while back but didn't take note of the sink at the time. Very interesting about the reveal. Why did you want t positive reveal and why wouldn't your fabricator do it? It might be harder to clean though it does look nice.

Our fabricator is also in favor of negative reveals, not positive reveals (this is for the bathroom sink but I'm assuming it's true for a kitchen). Maybe it's easier to do? Or maybe it's because he's a fabricator and his first love is the stone he is working with and not the sink so he wants the stone to be noticed, not the sink. Just a thought. ;-)

Did anyone got the Riverby?

I am about to order it in undermount 33" - but 2-3 weeks wait right now

Should I wait or should I get the Cape dory (kitchen cab installation has not started yet so I may be able to wait
