Call them and tell them you need to return then as they don't match. Be nice and see what they say.

What company did you order them from? I ordered some faux wood blinds from Just Blinds and they have a satisfaction guaranty.

I ordered from American blinds. They are now telling me that they can't match up with Home Depot blinds. When I ordered them, they said that the bright white is the exact same color as snow white at home depot. Now they are giving me a different story. They said I could re-order these in a new color for half the price. I can't afford to lose out on $500. I save my measly paychekcs from my part-time job to pay for these.

I hate when companies change their story. I would call again (try to be very nice) and ask the same question again. Sometimes you get different answers! Then, if need be, ask to speak with a manager and see what happens. Don't give up yet!

Well, I talked to a manager and she had me take a pic. I took a pic to show the color against my white trim and to show the damaged valance.

We had great service from them 4 years ago when DH made an error in a measurement on a very expensive window--they just replaced it at no cost. I would call again-talk to someone else-ask for a supervisor and also take a blind over to HomeDepot and take a picture of them side by side-fax it to them. Use info like "on Oct.12th at 9:30 a.m. I spoke with (name if you have it) and I was told...." The more specific you are the more they will take you seriously. Good luck

If all the pleading in the world doesn't make them change their mind and you decide to reorder don't forget you can sell your blinds on craigslist and/or ebay. A lot of people sell their used blinds and yours would be brand new and 50% off retail.

It's too late for my advice, but I would have ordered the samples from American Blind to make sure that I got the right color. At this point I guess you could repaint the trim to match the blinds. If you paint it yourself it would cost less than the $500 it would cost to replace the blinds.

Unfortunately, American Blinds does not send Hunter Douglas wood samples. That is why I used the home depot samples for Hunter Douglas.

You know I am sitting here looking at my blinds (bright white) and the trim (creamy white) and I don't think the color difference is that noticeable with the furniture and other things.

Someone mentioned changing the color of your trim. Is that a possibility? That would certainly solve your problem and be much cheaper than taking a 500 dollar loss.

IMO, this doesn't make sense. I can understand them saying they can't match Home Depot colors that aren't Hunter Douglas, but Hunter Douglas colors should be the same across the board. Color codes may be different, but the actual name shouldn't change.

I would call again (you may get someone more helpful the second time) and explain that you were told by one of their salespeople that the bright white is the exact same color as snow white at home depot.
If they still don't cooperate I'd just live with the blinds or paint the trim a softer color.

As patches mentioned, once they're up you may never notice the difference.
I never noticed my white blinds didn't match my trim in the MB until I ordered blinds for another room and started comparing whites!

If your blinds are stock sizes, they should let you exchange them for another color. But if they are special order (made to fit your windows) then I can see why they refuse.

Bottom line, I never order anything unless I am absolutely sure it is exactly the same model # (or color code).

We were pricing blinds a few months ago and were about to order from Am. Blinds (Levolor Visions) but the price was only a couple of dollars less than Lowe's per window, so used Lowe's.

mpwdmom- I was told by Am. Blinds that it was the exact same color as the hunter douglas sample at home depot. They were $800 cheaper than the ones at home depot so I ordered them online.
I am thinking that I will just live with the color difference. I started another post shwoing thblind color against my trim. Everyone seems to think the look fine.

I have a feeling that in 5 years you will not even notice the difference. My shutters were not exact although the paints were matched by BM to the paint of the trim, but they were mixed same as the original formula of the trim. Years later, I don't even think about it as they are so close. I think about it if someone mentions theirs are not identical.

momtotwins--here is what I would do.

1) accept the fact that given time, the difference between the two whites will not bother you. My blinds in some rooms are more bright white and my trim is creamy. I thought it would bother me, but it doesn't. My blinds are the same color throughout the house, but the light filtering blinds are a different color of white than the non light filtering (go-figure).

2) get the blind replaced with the damage at no cost to you.

3) talk to a manager, tell him/her that you are willing to accept the flawed order but demand a discount on your order since you were misled on the colors. It sounds like you were misled into thinking that your blinds would be the same color as your trim. Perhaps they will offer you, rather than a discount, some kind of voucher for a future purchase.

Keep your cool, wait until your emotions are in check,and there are no kids around and give them a call.

If they are not willing to help you out, tell them about filing a complaint on BBB's web site.. It always worked for me..
