Poor quality with BM Eco Spec paint line (x-post Home Dec)
Comments (21)I am a builder: In June of 2009 we received shipment of interior MDF doors from Holzkraft. The doors arrived pre-primed from the manufacturer. Being a LEED project, zero VOC latex paints were used. The painter lightly sanded the pre-primed doors, used a tack cloth to remove any loose paint and applied a Benjamin Moore paint, Eco Spec. product directly to the door. The paint did not stick to the door and could easily be removed with a light scratch. We called the paint store who lined up an on-site meeting with the Eco Spec. representative who confirmed the techniques being used by the painter were part of the correct process for his product. He suggested we use a primer to go over the manufacturers primer. The painter then primed all the doors before applying the final coat. The finish paint adhered to the new primer. Two years later the homeowner has noticed several areas were the paint has been removed with the least amount of effort. The confusing part of the equation is the painter used the same process on the MDF baseboards and casing through out the house and the home owner is seeing no signs of problems. I am in the process of hiring a surface engineer who has assured me that his firm will find the problem. I will post the results....See MoreWhich BM blue-grey with carrera?
Comments (6)Can you post some pictures of the tile? Are you installing the Carrera in the shower? I would not. Have you soak tested a large sampling of this stone? Your bathroom lighting is going to play a huge roll in how the tile and paint show. What tyope of light you pick is key or rather what type of bulb you use. People typically have a preference of cool white. Warm white. Little light or loads of light. Prior to tiling all these light sources should be installed and one. Then once this is done you can do some paint samples. One of the rules with my company is this: Painter is the last one in [TOP TEN TIPS FOR GETTING BATHROOM TILE JUST RIGHT[(https://www.houzz.com/magazine/10-top-tips-for-getting-bathroom-tile-right-stsetivw-vs~2903353) - This story on Houzz covers some more basics and expands on the lighting element of bathroom tiling. Comments (25)We did a lot of neutral with it. He has bamboo floors, and most of his furniture is dark brown leather or wood. We added pops of red all over (pillows, blankets, rugs, some draperies) and it feels very masculine and has a slight nautical style to it. I think your ideas are spot on with how I would use the color in my own bedroom. I'm picturing what you're describing as something very light and clean, with a kind of soft feeling to it. I'm totally into the vintage looking rugs right now. Here's one that I've used recently that has the blue/gray and vintage thing going on: https://www.ethanallen.com/en_US/shop-rugs-traditional-patterned/suzain-rug%2C-blue%2Fgray/041522.html#start=1...See Moreneed help for pale blue-grey paint (not purple!)
Comments (58)Wow - I guess I shouldn't have turned off notifications on this thread :) To the OP (and for the benefit of any lurkers) you say you want a pale blue-gray, although it seems like you really want white or off-white (and definitely don't want something with purple undertones). But, you haven't provided any additional information about your space that would lend to helpful suggestions on an online forum. The right color for your space will be the color that best relates to the hard finishes and furnishings/décor. And, while super light "neutrals" and whites are very popular right now, keep in mind that most of the inspiration images that use white are rooms that are flooded with natural light, have strong architectural elements, and are fully decorated by professionals. The average house does not have all of these elements and would struggle to pull off white walls without looking like the homeowner just hasn't picked a color or painted the walls yet. (Not judging/guessing whether the light color will work for you as I don't know anything about your space, but putting this out there for the benefit of any lurkers). Best of luck in choosing your color and hope that you'll post after pictures!...See MoreSuzy
