Show me your dark countertop and tile to go with it
Comments (8)Thank you for the input. Our house was built in 1977, not ultra modern but also not traditional. It has dark stained woodwork and beige carpet throughout (even in the bathroom--yuk!). When we remodeled the kitchen a few years ago, we replaced the dark wood with natural cherry which has aged to a warm, medium tone brown. I love our very dark green kitchen counters and the warm glow of straw colored walls and red oak floors in that room, but I am having some trouble loving that look for our master bath. My problem is that our current bathroom has the dark wood cabinet with a dark brown Formica countertop. The carpet in the bathroom and dressing area is beige, about the shade of travertine. I really want to get away from that look, but I am afraid that the only granite my husband can appreciate is pushing us back in that direction. We will definitely replace the carpet with tile, but I need to find a shade that doesn't remind me too much of the current beige. The pictures above are beautiful, but they have a little too much brown for me. We won't have any cabinets above the countertop, so I am hoping that the right color paint on the walls will keep it from looking too heavy. We are heading to a tile store this morning and hope that we have better luck finding something that will work with it all....See MoreI'll Show You Mine, If You'll Show Me Yours, Wednesday Feb.9th
Comments (12)Jodi,this has been in our paper the last week or so and i forget to go look at it.I live in Oceanside, and i understand there are a couple more here. A couple of years ago one of our weekly columnists set up a camera on a hummingbirds nest outside his bathroom window, that was interesting as well. My #1 son when he was young hand raised an owl from a baby to an adult, also a hawk and a possum. We live on the edge of a canyon and there were always babies falling from the nests. Yes the humane society knew about it,and even saved mice for his owl,and found his possum a couple times when it got away, and returned them back to him free of charge. Both he and #2 son used to help out at the humane society back then, this was in the 60'early 70's before the HS got so uppity, and political.JMO Kathi...See MoreI'll Show your Mine if you Show me Yours
Comments (10)murraysmom, we had a full fledged blizzard here last night. It had been raining then snowing since late afternoon, but by a little after 9pm. the wind and snow began big time. It was a white-out for the cars on the highway beyond, they had their flashers on. It continued for 45min. then the wind finally died down. This morning there was at least 3" of snow on the ground and the road out front was ice. Now temp is going up so ice is gone and I see green patches coming out from beneath the snow. The daffodils are flattened. The almanac had called for a blizzard at the end of March, so they weren't far off....See MoreShow me your grey quartz; does anyone have LG Nimbus?
