Where to find an attractive, quality LOW profile rug?

After receiving great advice here on GW about finding an entry rug to use in my foyer, I bought a beautiful Karastan rug at Macy's. It worked great for a few days - until we realized that with the rug pad underneath there wasn't enough clearance to open the door.

So, my beautiful rug went back to the store. Unfortunately, the expensive rug pad can't be returned, since DH (uncharacteristically) cut it to size without checking the clearance first.

Once we install the weatherstipping on the door there will be even less clearance, so I likely won't be able to use a rug pad. Does anyone have suggestions for an attractive, extremely low profile rug that might work?

It would have to have some sort of backing that doesn't require a mat but also doesn't damage my wood floors. Someone mentioned Sisal - do these require mats?

I do have a Waterhog mat out front but would also like to have a decorative rug inside to catch any dirt or water.
