Oh, Wonderful!!

Yes to the warm/gold paint idea; possibly one with green undertones. I used BM Quincy Tan and love it. The drapes are wonderful, and I love the new chairs. They would be fantastic painted black/distressed, or even a distressed green or gold. I can't see those mixed with your current chairs, unless you paint those also, though. Question about the new ones; are they structurally ok? If they are wobbly it may not be worth the effort it will require to paint and recover them

If it were me I'd leave the buffet piece alone, the finish looks gorgeous, and you can always accessorize it with black. I like to see an old piece with some patina in any room, and yours is a beauty.

You have made some big improvements already. Add a centerpiece and it will already be wonderful for the Holidays. Can't wait to see this when it's finished.

the chairs are sound, they are not as solid/heavy as my current ones but this room hardly gets used.

I am going to leave the buffet alone, I would hate to ruin it.

Well, I love the green paint you used and I love the curtains, but I don't like them together. So, if you like the curtains more than the paint, then a golden/tan would be nice. I think Concord Ivory is too yellow for the curtains though. Look at BM Wilmington Tan or another one that comes to mind is BM Mystic Gold. It's kind of hard to see it, but Johnatemp has MG in her dining room and she was recently testing it in her kitchen, so I'll include the link. Decatur Buff is on the same strip and that's another possibility. I also like jjam's idea of a greenish tan.

Some more food for thought...Have you considered installing some faux wainscoting or crown molding? I don't know if this would be consistent with the rest of your home but it can add so much. I posted awhile back about my DR which was a cool blue, and with some additional wainscoting, drapes, paint, and the help of many on this forum, it turned into a room that we all love.

Jjam, I just love your DR. I have got my mouldings cut to make faux panels in my DR right now b/c of your DR - now seeing your pic wishing I went with larger moulding. Dang!! BTW, I have that same Waterford decanter. I searched for one like one that I saw on that movie with Robin Williams where he was gay living above his gay bar & he & his boyfriend had to act like they were straight when they met the sons fiance's parents??!! The Birdcage?? Is that it?? Too funny:)

DD70, Will you post a pic with the other panels that you got at Lowes? While I do like those panels very much they seem to be taking the room in a different direction. Alot of your paintings & accessories seem to say kinda frenchy shabby chic.

Concord Ivory would be too yellow for your room. You'd have to replace your curtains and lamp shade. The swatch that you show is not the true color. see below link to photos of my previous sunroom. That's Concord Ivory.

I think that Mystic Gold would look nice.

jjam-very nice..the green paint works well with your wood furniture and the wainscoting made a huge difference for you. It will be a while before i can get crown and chair molding up. My DH is overwhelmed trying to fix this house up, DIY.

johnatemp-I seem be in decorating limbo..stuck in between shabby chic, french country, and formal (curtains)! LOL. I love those curtains but I will try the others later and take some pics.

What about painting to walls..do you think that will help?

Heavens yes. I'd be off to get some sample pots right now. Buy a few pieces of foam board while you're at it and try three shades in the gold/greenish tint family . Paint the foam boards with one of each, and go with whatever looks best next to your curtains. I laugh when I read about your DH. It took me 15 years to get the wainscoting done, so I can certainly relate! In the meantime, the painting of the walls would be something you could do in a day or two, Then look for that centerpiece, and possibly a rug (shop for one at a place with a good return policy) and you will have a beautiful room for the holidays.
Don't worry if it's not "finished". Every room in my house is always a work in progress, and honestly that's half the fun.

Ok... I am going to go out on a limb here since I really think you are pulling together a wonderful room.. I know that you are worried that your husband will freak if you touch the china cabinet.. but how about just a touch of colored buffing wax to warm the pieces up a bit. If you hated it you can buffed very hard to get it off.. so no harm no foul :).. Just a gentel rub over the white of that and the chairs will really warm them up in the direction you are taking your wonderful room. Here is a wax that I really like in the link.

The look is so subtle that I am not sure how it would pick up in photo but i will try. I have gotten the wax a few places, mostly the more old fashioed types of hardware stores.. but the link I sent you seems to have a nicer selection that I have ever gotten... I am interested in trying their lyming wax!

ok.... I cannot get a photo at night.. flash washes is out.. no-flash equals a dark cave photo!! I will try again tomorrow. I went and found my can that I last used.. Minwax fishish wax paste in dark finish ( as oppsed to natural).. it has a tint to it.. a deep rich brown with a bit of red to it. very warm looking.

kitchetime-those chairs are very much like mine! thats a great room, love that table too.

If you can get past the smell, I have read that shoe polish gives the same effect as the waxes. Why can't they make shoe polish smell better???

i guess I can try the shoe polish in a hidden spot to test it.
