We finally put the drapes up this weekend! I'm loving how everything looks together. Thanks for all the input and help with my decisions!! Still on my list are larger bedside lamps, although I really am attached to what I currently have, but I know they are too small. And yes I need to accessorize! That is the hardest thing for me (it's almost painful!) and I just haven't found any inspiration yet......

You're doing great! I really like the drapes. And I LOVE those tassels! I'm a sucker for little details like that. Could I ask where you found those?

I bought them from world wide trim. I found her on ebay but she has a website now. I've bought fabric trim from here before as well, she has great prices and is very helpful.

The wire bin idea is a great idea (whatup Pablo!). Now that I have read all these great ideas I plan on running to one of the box stores and get some fencing and wing nuts too. I have two plots that are a long way away from my main bins and have been thinking of making some new bins there. The fence will be the way I go this time to see how it works. As it relates to the four (4) -bin systems you can take a look at the link below, I posted about it when I completed it about a month ago. I use it for storing and curing finished compost. Once cured I use the compost to top-dress all my beds before planting in them. As long as the cost is minimal I am all for doing things the "free" way. In regards to the clay comment, when making the piles moist some water usually gets on the clay and creates a slippery surface. I was stating to be careful in that regard, for our clay can be like ice when wet, as you well know. Not to change focus, but Pablo, have you ever composted any of your rabbit manure? I got two truckloads from a new friend (HA!) that sells champion rabbits. I have two bins full of rabbit manure, leaves, coffee, and other kitchen items and was wondering if you have ever gone that route, seeing as you raise rabbits. There is also a very large pile of rabbit manure and leaves I can use when making the new wire bin. I am sure you have not accumulated truckloads, but was wondering just the same. I know that barn where my new friend keeps his rabbits is strong with urine odor, and the piles are smoking like a choo-choo train when I turn them. Do ya got any skinny on rabbit compost? Thanks everyone for the compliments. I'm glad if our project can help anyone else with theirs because I know that it can be nervewracking. Here are some answers to some more questions. @ suero - not sure why your suction cup won't stick. Is your tile smooth or porous? Make sure its not on a grout line and that its a little wet. @ desertsteph - the door makes a little noise but nothing too intrusive. I found a kit where the wheels are actually a type of nylon, which are supposed to be quieter than steel, but the track is steel so it does make a little noise. It rolls pretty smooth, but it can get a little stuck, but nothing too bad and not enough for us to regret it at all. @ sochi - the barn door is just a simple single panel, shaker-style wood door. Its the same as our closet doors, but bigger. We had our contractor cut some mdf strips to make the design, then it was caulked and painted. The track hardware is from rusticahardware.com. We thank it came out great. However, I can't take 100% credit for it. I had the design in my head but I was trolling around the internet looking at others who created barn doors and I came across Catskill Farms Real Estate (linked below). They use a lot of barn doors in their homes and it was like they had created exactly what I had in my head. Up to this point I kept going back and forth on doing a barn door or not, but once I saw their homes I was determined to use this element in our project. I highly recommend checking out their site and take a look at the homes they create for inspiration. Wow! I just want to thank all of you for the wonderful positive feedback. It's nice being able to get genuine help and not be beat up for choices. aloha, I was thinking of doing a long bench, luggage rack or chest across from the bed. I imagine eventually there will be a flat screen where the picture is currently. I also have an old cedar chest or trunk that could possible work there and would add extra storage for blankets/pillows. indygo, I'll check out BM limsickle on my color deck. I worry about the creamy white with the off white carpet. Will it be to washed out? abudant, it's hard to get the lamp behind the chair without feeling like it's hanging over your head or pulling the chair out to far but I'll try again. The little stool was kinda jammed in the picture it was a quick set up. The sunburst is shims and painted with metallic glaze. I only have the 2 same sized pictures. dianolo, I'll check out BM Wales too but toned down? grandma, wouldn't it look awkward with the lamp shade in front of the curtains and block them? I thought it was better on the otherside to give it height? rather, I did make the mirror. It is made from cedar shims, glue, HL mirror, glue and more glue. I found a tutorial online that I followed but found out the hard way several steps were missing. cindy, the curtains and stripes are almost identical...at least to one of the green stripes. I think there might actually be 3 shades. I'll look again. Can a paint store match to paint to material? busy, I hate to get rid of a table completely because I do occasionally use it when I sneak off to read in there. I'm not opposed to painting the stool if that helps. I will definitely try centering the mirror. I'm not sure about moving the secretary just because it kind of doubles as a night stand and gives some height to that corner. Can I get by without a second night stand? green, there's not really an orange sherbert color, there is a mustardy yellow. I'm sure bamboo blinds would give great texture and be less stark but for now we are keeping with the white blinds as they are throughout the bedrooms. The bamboo blinds in my LR/ktichen don't offer enough privacy or darkness even with the privacy liner and privacy is an issue with this room. cindy, I'm not completely against the yellow for paint color just looking at other options too. Yellow is always a favorite because it's so bright and cheery. There is indeed pink in the bedding but I'm afraid DH would not go for pink walls. I will try to make some of the changes tonight. We've had to move some stuff around in there for the carpets to be cleaned and a section replaced due to water damage. Unfortunately the carpet guy wasn't able to do the patch yet. :'( I'll be sure and take pictures and post them for insight. Again, thank you all for the feedback!

snbtwins- i measured for you, the window wall to fridg wall is 16 feet. the range wall to the end of the island is 12 feet.Hope that helps. Pball- i put the open carved toekick on the spots where it bumps out only, so it stands out. So the sink is bumped out 2 1/2 feet, which i love, it gives me alot of extra room behind the sink and makes it stands out nicely.The fridg and pantry also bump out alittle bit, just enough to distinguish the 2 diff. bottom moldings.I did regular base on the rest. Most people do not do base moldings on their cabinets. I guess they feel you can hit them alot.we don't wear shoes in our house, so for us it's not a problem. I really wanted the finished look on the bottoms.I don't think they consider the island standard. There is a base molding on there. I think standard for them is having it open on the bottom, hope that answers your question.

Thanks. The drapes are JCP LaScala in Ivory.

These are lined but they don't have the interlining. I almost (and still am) toying with the idea of getting the ones with interlining b/c I don't like seeing the light coming in from behind them. Although, when I was deciding on drapes I did pick up a heavier drape in a faux silk from JCP that had interlining and the light still came through. I don't know if I'll be able to completely block it out without going way over my budget.

Thank you too for posting the link for the tassels - I think they look very elegant in there.

I know what you mean about seeing the light through the drapes. The dupionis that I have in the family room (mustard seed room) are just lightly lined and you can see through them. I showed a picture to the owner of Silk Supply where I bought them and he said he should have recommended the heavier lining. The gold drapes in the LR/DR and the navy ones are interlined and no light shows through. When they make the panels for the master bedroom I will have them interline them. I really don't mind the light shining through in the family room though.

Thanks Hoyamom. I just saw your reply in your AG post and I was about to ask you about your panels!! I know I should just let the light issue go but it's against my personality, I just can't! DH doesn't mind and really, hardly anyone sees the bedroom unless we're showing someone the house and then it's usually at night anyway.

Kabergs, awesome job! So nice to see the finished room when you know there were questions, indecision, etc. Gives the rest of us some hope! I am envisioning those crystal column lamps,(Restoration Hardware) on your bedside tables!

I am not home during the day so the light coming through doesn't really bother me. The mbr is on the SW side so it gets a lot of light. I already have blinds so that helps cut down on the heat in the summer.

kmcg - I have those column RH column lamps and they are lovely. They would look great in your bedroom Kabergs!

Dh threw the catalog out on me last night. My current ones are RH and I really do love them, but I know they're too small.

We're usually not home during the day, or if I am, I'm working in teh office so I shouldn't let the light bother me.

Yes, those lamps are beautufil. LOL, on the crystal ball lamp! Perfect for my daughter who's into the pricesses!

That's quite a savings! Obviously not exactly the same, I can't justify the RH price with the kids being so little. I still have stuffed animals, balls, blankets flying in spite of my best efforts.

I was just looking at the lamps on the RH site and the ones I have are on SALE! Check out the Caroline glass column lamps - they are all the way at the bottom of the table lamps. They are glass all the way up and on the base. The price is incredible!

Beautiful! Just LOVE it.

I'm also thinking of doing just one panel, rather than two, on my BR windows. Could you tell me what width your panels are? And also: what did you use to attach the tassels to the wall? Looks very, very nice.

They are 41" wide. I decided on two because I wanted the flexibilty to have them just hang on each side of the window if I got tired of having them pulled to one side.

As for what is holding them there....I'm ashamed to admit what I'm using. The salesperson at JCP showed me this cool, inconspicuous hook that is made just for tiebacks. They were out of them and haven't come in yet. I checked Target, BB and Beyond, Home Depot and Lowes but only found those "c" shaped cupholder hooks. I would have needed a pretty big size to hold the tiebacks as the cording is thick. So....I used Command Strips. If you notice them they look terrible, but I just couldn't wait any longer to get the drapes up. To make it worse we only had two large ones so I have two on two of the windows. Don't tell anyone.....

Now I see why the curtains look so lush--that you have two rather than one on each window. Thanks for letting me know: that's instructive in terms of making a decision on my own windows.

In any case, your room is lovely. :)

kabergs - is the close up picture pretty accurate to the color of the panels?
I'm considering this color for my bedroom...
they almost look as if they have a mix between, ivory, linen and soft muted gold look to them
