Trim and Ceiling Color with BM Linen White Cabs

I know BM's Linen White is a popular color for kitchen cabs, so when we chose it for our kitchen cabs, I thought it would be easy to find colors to paint our trim and ceiling. Upon research here on GW, I am not finding a black and white answer!

I think my biggest dilemma is that I want to put molding on our cabs where they meet the soffit and again where the soffit meets the ceiling, and think it should be Linen White. Amy I correct in that? But, at the end of the cabinet run will begin the rest of the trim in our family room. Do they need to be the same color? I don't want a stark contrast, but also not sure I want Linen White for my trim color either, it seems a little too creamy to me in our space. Thoughts?

So to recap...

1. What color should my base and crown be?

2. Color to paint our ceiling?

3. Should the trim over the cabs be same color as trim in adjoining family room?

4. Could I paint the trim Linen White where the cab meets the soffit, but then a slightly different color for the trim that is going where the soffit meets the ceiling, allowing me to use that color throughout the rest of the house?

ACK! HELP !!

I haven't used BM whites before but I see Dove White referenced often on GW. My trim is SW Antique White, which is similar to BM Linen, and my ceilings are SW Creamy. Creamy is a soft white and there's not a stark contrast.

Just wanted to add that we've used Linen White as our "go to" trim color for years and it has worked everywhere. Very easy to live with and adapts to its surroundings well. I don't think you'd go wrong using it for your trim.

We have BM Paint on all our walls but chose to use white Cabinet Coat on our trim. I love the finish and how it goes on. I used to buy it from Ace Hardware but our local Ace store closed so I searched the Cabinet Coat website and saw it listed as available at our Benjamin Moore store. My great BM paint guy said that Benjamin Moore had acquired the company that makes Cabinet Coat so they have the ability to get it too - it just takes a week or so to special order it. Do a search for "Cabinet Coat" on the boards here and you'll find lots of posts. Cabinet Coat is self-priming (although I did use a good primer on our oil based trim and would probably do the same on kitchen cabinets to ensure adhesion) and self-leveling which means it leaves a beautiful, even finish. I like the netsuke, it seems a little brighter than my CPS. If you like the SW colors and just want to compare, CPS is an almost exact match for SW Raimie. It is funny how much I freaked out. I was ready to repaint the cabinets! But once everything was installed and paint went on the walls it was all good. I have to say I really liked the mayo on the trim too. Linen white was a little to heavy, this was a smidge brighter. I think you'll be happy with it on the ceiling. Post some pictures! What are your counter tops?

I have a large sample of White Dove here, and a small chip of Old Praire (I have the BM deck). They do look good together. It looks like enough contrast . It does not look like you were trying to match the cab colour, but missed (I think Swiss Coffee might have looked like a miss). Hopefully we will hear back from Lori. I am curious if she still recommends a crisper white like Cotton Balls, expecially after seeing the warmth in the counter and floor. I have found this post educational and am always glad to hear what Lori has to say on colours. Carol

I would use whatever trim color you have in your other rooms in your kitchen. I'd do Linen White on everything attached to the cabinetry.

I have BM Bone White cabinets, but have kept the previous owner's Duron Shell White trim around the doors and windows in the kitchen and throughout the entire house. I like the continuity.

I have Linen White walls in a couple of rooms and in my stairwell & hallways, first and second floors. It's a nice, soft white. Your cabinetry will be beautiful, I am sure! Would love to see a pic when all is done.

hmm... still weighing this out! i think choosing LW will be the easiest solution, but wondering if i could just bump down a shade or two to mascarpone?
