I had a similar question a few months back but couldn't find the post any longer. I have the 30 inch Thermador columns and got cabinet fronts for them. I have Medallion cabinets, not a custom line, and at first putting cabinet fronts on them was proving confusing for the kitchen showroom I used. They told me these were more difficult than subzero for some reason because at first I couldn't believe they had never run across someone wanting cabinet fronts on large units. Medallion didn't make a door big enough so we went through various options from 4 cabinet doors-2 large and 2 smaller ones put together(didn't want that)to being offered to just put a flat panel on the fridge and they would add moldings which would not have matched the rest of my cabinets. It was finally straightened out (I sent them a picture of rmkitchen's units which are also the freedom columns to show what I had in mind. Her cabinets I believe were custom). We ended up with large doors and 2 drawers put together at the Medallion factory to make one panel - I hope.

The reason I say I hope is because the cabinets are just being installed now and we haven't opened those boxes yet. I will have them open them tomorrow and take a picture for you if you'd like. It won't be installed but it might help. As far as installation, I am having someone experienced with the columns install them and put on the cabinet doors. My appliance place gave me the name of someone they recommend and I also have a name from the Thermador website.

Thanks jaksopcam for the reply. Interesting information. I would love to see how Medallion put the panel together. Don't go out of your way to take a photo tomorrow just for me, but I would like to see how they built the panel, and of course, eventually what it looks like. I'll check back for another reply from you as your time permits and kitchen progresses.

I had to go look at the panel for our 30" Thermador Freedom. The refrigerator won't be installed until next week. The panel appears to be one large piece that is made to look as if it's three different doors. The Thermador will be adjacent to an integrated Liebherr that has two actual doors plus a cabinet door above it that opens. The Liebherr is shorter than the Thermador, and the functioning door above the Liebherr is mimicked by a panel on the Thermador. I can try to take some photos of just the panel if you'd like, although it's very long, as you might imagine. Alternatively, I can wait until next week when both refrigerators will be installed (fingers crossed). Our kitchen designer and I had conniptions trying to make the two adjacent refrigerators "work" visually. I hope this helps.

seekerinfo, you'd think I would have been using my kitchen by now. But, actually, the panels were just installed last week. I did think of you and took some pictures. The panels came out great but I'm having an issue with either how they are fitting or how it was installed. I'll be posting that question in another post. But I've included a few photos to give you an idea. HTH.

The appliance installer (Thermador trained) told me the unit is installed as far back as it goes. Not sure if filler wall is too short?

If the sides of the cabinets are 24", they should be fitting flush. Make sure you water and power connections are int he right place. I don't remember looking at the back of these units or watching to see if placement was critical, but I know it was for my micro and warming drawer. In fact, my warming drawer stuck out too far and we were looking at all kinds of possible solutions to remedy it when we simply moved the plug from the lower position to the upper position. Then it had the clearance it needed and slid into place.

Thanks for the photos. I saw your other posting as well. Something is wrong; the doors should fit flush. It appears that you need to buy a Thermador connecting kit if you want to truly mimic separate door panels. Otherwise, your option is to build a large door that is presumably connected by a single thin unifying piece of plywood. At $100 a piece for the connecting kit, it is probably cheaper to build them as one piece as Medallion did. I'd love to see a close up picture of the side to see how Medallion put together your raised panel doors for your refrigerator, given that I will have raised panel doors as well. Is there a way to private message (e-mail) someone on Gardenweb? That way you could send me a full size resolution of any photos. Best of luck to you on fixing the gap and finishing your kitchen. The columns look so good when they are fully integrated.

Interestingly, the rumor is the next model of the columns will be far easier to install; however I also heard they may not be able to be completely flush. Being able to be completely flush seems to be the whole point so I would be stunned if Thermador took that feature away just so the columns could be installed more easily.

I would love to see photos of your installation as well. I only have 8 foot ceilings and I am curious to know if you have 8 foot ceilings as well and how your tops will look above your Lieb and Thermador.

Our ceilings are 99 1/2" high. I would be happy to send photos of the two refrigerators after install. It might be best to email me privately at the end of next week because with everything going on here, I'm likely to forget.

stej7141 could you post pictures of your kitchen on this site for all of us to see? I am also interested in seeing the panels on the refrigerators. We are just purchasing a 30" Liebherr and need to panel it.

quiltgirl: unfortunately, we are behind schedule in getting the kitchen finished due to parts missing from our floor sample refrigerators. I think we have the big problem solved, so I hope to have some photos in the next week or so (fingers crossed). FYI, our Liebherr (HC1001) is fully integrated so it sits completely inside its own cabinet unlike our 30" Thermador which will have a door panel.
