Balsam Hill Christmas tree quality
Comments (12)I'm glad I saw this post, as I'm looking to replace a very expensive tree I bought from Tree Classics two seasons ago. Well, the first season, the lights failed three times. They replaced one section under warranty and were supposed to replace the entire tree after the holiday season, but said they were out of stock and would send later. In September '12, I still hadn't received the replacement tree and started contacting Tree Classics again. Guess what?! They'd gone out of business (bankrupt) and sold their name. The new Tree Classics, marketing under the same name and selling the same items from the identical website still claiming to be in business for over 30 years, said they weren't responsible for "that other" Tree Classics, who sold "inferior" products to theirs. I paid almost $800 for a tree that didn't work for even a full year and had zero recourse. Run away!...See MoreNewer Christmas Trees, any great ones (fake)?
Comments (8)I bought an 8' noble fir from Tree Classics in 2003, it has white lights. They didn't offer LED back then so I have no idea which kind of light is better. I've never had any problems with my tree or the lights. It arrived quickly with no problems. It looks great. Over the years I've never seen any artificial tree elsewhere that looks better. Before I ordered it, I ordered the sample branches of all the types of trees which helped me decide which type I liked the most. I liked being able to do that, it did help to look at the types before deciding. I just looked at the Tree Classics website and they do still offer that option, you just have to type in sample in the search window to find how to do it. The sample branches cost $25 which is then a credit towards any tree purchased. My tree has lasted for 6 holidays so far with no problems at all. A couple individual lights have broken every couple years when we would take it in/out of storage, but they are easy to replace with standard replacement bulbs from any local store. The tree looks great, but it does take up space and is heavy. I squish it together with bungee cords to store it in it's box each year, then when I take it out I have to separate and fluff each branch when I set it up (wear gloves). Cheaper trees with less branches may not need that. If I did it again I'd probably go a slim version to save space in the room and to make it easier to move around. I also learned to mark the places where the tree divides with some clear tape so that when I take it down I know where to pull to separate the sections, the seams completely disappear otherwise and the first year it took me forever to get it apart. Oh, and if you ever need to remove a broken light bulb, turn off the lights first! Otherwise, if you touch the wires exposed by the broken bulb you'll get shocked. Trust me!...See MoreBuying an artificial Christmas Tree
Comments (17)Great idea, Igloochick, about the smoke detector! We always had Noble Firs but by the time Christmas Eve arrived no matter the care, misting and watering, the needles were just too dry to turn the lights on. Four years ago, after research and comments on this forum, I ordered a 9 1/2 foot tree from Tree Classics. My husband built a base that secured the tree and elevated it to the height I needed. It is beautiful, in four pieces, prelit, and most everyone that sees it thinks it is real. Tree Classics sends a huge box of sample branches and you can actually see and touch the different varieties. If you order, the $20+ fee is credited to your purchase. It is an extremely heavy tree but I think it will outlive me; I consider it a great investment....See MoreArtificial Christmas tree
Comments (23)I didn't buy my new tree online but searched online first for the tree I wanted then went to the store to buy it because it was on sale. I wanted a tree that would allow me to hang my ornaments so they hung instead of resting on the branches. I have some larger ornaments. I didn't want a prelit tree since I had purchased new LED bulb sets the year before and I still had my vintage bubble lights but couldn't find the tree I wanted that wasn't prelit. I also like coloured lights but the tree I purchased only came with prelit white lights. After decorating the tree I was surprised I ended up liking the white lights after all. And if the prelit lights burn out the strings can be removed and you can use your own lights. Link to last year's tree...See MoreUser
