Balsam Hill Christmas tree

Comments (2)Hi, I own a pre-lit Christmas tree and the second year, part of the lights on the tree stopped working also. I do love the convenience of pre-lit trees, but i think the next time i buy a tree, it will not be a pre-lit. I have had many experiences with family and friends with light segments going out on their trees, so my suggestion to you would be to buy a tree without lights. It is slightly more work to set up, but at least if a strand of lights goes out, all you have to do is buy a new strand. Also, it would allow you to change light strand colors year to year. Everyone has there own tastes, but when it comes to Christmas lights, in my opinion, there is nothing like the traditional incandescent (regular not LED). LED tend to glare while Incandescent Christmas lights give a sparkling golden glow. Also when it comes to light strand life, I have had about the same luck with LED as regular incandescent. Most light strands today are made so that if one light bulb goes out, the rest stay lit. But I still have issues with light strands because light bulbs burning out are only one of many problems with light strands. My most common problems are missing light bulbs, broken light bulbs, or having a short in the light strand. So my advice to you would be to get a regular artificial tree and put the lights on manually, then if a strand goes out, you won't feel bad because it will be easily replaced : )...See MoreAnyone have a half (flatback) Christmas tree?
Comments (5)I don't have a half-back tree, but I do have a small living room and an artifical tree. I set up my tree, decorate it (leaving much of the back empty) and then bend the back branches up at about the half way point or maybe just a little bit more. Then I shove the tree into the corner as fall as it will go without damaging the walls or looking funny. I don't think anyone has ever realized how much of the tree is actually not fluffed out. (And, so what if they have. It always looks pretty to me.)...See Moreartificial Christmas tree; Frontgate? Balsam Hill?
Comments (93)Geeze, all this so it's "easier" to put up? Easier than what? Building the Pyramids? I get a fresh tree each year. I buy it from a nearby garden center, take my stand to them, they put the stand on, deliver the tree and set it up. They also move a table for me to the garage. All this for (including tree price) is about $140 for an 8 ft tree. I like a LOT of lights on my tree and I cannot do this by myself, so I hire a woman who charges me $50 to put the lights on. Then the grandchildren come and put the ornaments on the tree. Around New Years, DSIL and the boys come and untrue the tree, remove lights and wind them back up neatly, and then take the tree out to the curb and bring my table back into the LR. My allergist told me that if an artificial tree is not carefully covered, it must be dusted very thoroughly when put up - each branch and all the needles - or it's going to cause the allergic person in the house just as much trouble. He said that most tree allergies are actually an allergy to the stuff the tree companies spray their "cut in Aug" live trees to make them stay fresher for a longer time. If one finds a fresh cut tree with no spray on it, allergies should not be a problem. Now THIS is easy!...See More- 14 years ago
