Where to store the artificial Christmas tree?
Comments (12)In my perfect house I would have a trap door that the tree simply drops into after the season is over. Then it would have a magical hydraulic lift that brings it back out each year . . . fully decorated. But, since I live in the real world and have two full sized artificial trees, mine are under the steps in our basement. It works, but uses a lot of good storage space. We tried to put them in our garage up in the rafters, but after trying to slide them in at every angle while balancing precariously upon a ladder, we realized the rafters are spaced too close to fit them through in boxes and leaving them unboxed is just too good of a home for possible future rodents. Comments (4)After going through some artificial types, I finally broke down and bought real ornamental trees from my local nursery. They were spiral cut and lasted through wind, snow, rain, ice and extreme heat for 4 long years. We just took them out of their root-bound pots and planted them in the yard....See MoreArtificial christmas trees
Comments (2)Well, you are probably too late to get a nice one on sale this year. Retailers are getting smart and putting their christmas stuff on sale in the last days before Christmas. Last year my old pre-lit tree was looking a little tacky, and i thought I would get a good deal right after Christmas....I didn't shop December 26th and when I went there was nothing left. This year about 2 weeks before christmas I bought one for half price at Hobby Lobby. Linda c...See MoreBuying an artificial Christmas Tree
Comments (17)Great idea, Igloochick, about the smoke detector! We always had Noble Firs but by the time Christmas Eve arrived no matter the care, misting and watering, the needles were just too dry to turn the lights on. Four years ago, after research and comments on this forum, I ordered a 9 1/2 foot tree from Tree Classics. My husband built a base that secured the tree and elevated it to the height I needed. It is beautiful, in four pieces, prelit, and most everyone that sees it thinks it is real. Tree Classics sends a huge box of sample branches and you can actually see and touch the different varieties. If you order, the $20+ fee is credited to your purchase. It is an extremely heavy tree but I think it will outlive me; I consider it a great investment....See Moretwo25acres
