Do you recommend a soap dispenser for each sink?
Comments (23)Unquestionably yes. I have Elkay soap dispensers in my kitchen hooked up hand soap and had one in my old kitchen. I never had any trouble with any of them. I enjoy not having to play chase the drippy freestanding dispenser slipping around the counter game Plus, I had the hassle of trying to find a decent looking freestanding one that looked good in my kitchen. Lots of shopping trips and wasted time. Then, they wouldn't last long so more shopping trips. I like the visually cleaner look of the built-in. Less mess sitting around on the counter. My prep sink has a Tapmaster so I don't even have to touch the faucet to turn it on and off. That, combined with a quick tap of the built-in dispenser makes using that sink a breeze. Love my Tapmaster. I'm also happy I sprung for NeverMTs. They allow you to connect your dispenser directly into a giant bottle of soap (hand soap in my case) so you don't have to refill the little bottle that comes with your dispenser. You can go years without having to refill the soap. Here is a link that might be useful: NeverMT...See MoreIn Sink soap DIspenser - Hand or Dish soap?
Comments (25)I understand the concerns about using dish soap if it tends to dry your hands. That hasn't been a probelm for me, but I do have a child with OCD who tends to wash more than necessary, so for a while I switched from the antibacterial dish soap to a dish soap that was not antibacterial. It was gentler on the hands, and kept my child's hands from cracking (and sometimes bleeding) as they had with the antibacterial soap. Since then, I've diverted my child from constant hand washing to using hand sanitizer in between a normal amount of hand washing, which has solved the problem. Now I can use whatever kind of dish soap I want. But if it doesn't bother your hands, dish soap is a perfectly good hand soap. (My grandmother even used dish soap for shampoo, which I do occasionally for a super cleansing of all hair products from my hair, with no discernible harm.)...See MoreDouble sink vanity - do you use one soap dispenser or two?
Comments (20)I have a very long vanity right now. Two sinks, plenty of space in between them. One soap dispenser. As long as this vanity is-it's still..not like you have to cross a soccer field. I'm also totally fine with using my husband's side. BTW I also often brush my teeth there, and hand wash my lingerie there too. Unless I have enough lingerie for two sinks. I use mine also of course-washing face, etc. Mine is also closer to the medicine cabinet, my drawers, cosmetics, etc. One hand towel on the wall, my side. The other edge of the vanity doesn't have a wall next to it. We also have a shower where we have a soap, and a bathtub where we also have a soap, and I feel like we have enough soap in a rare case both of us need the same dispenser at that very moment. We can also take turns! You squeeze, then I squeeze! No messy trails-I usually wipe the counter right after I use it. (More than that, I also wipe counters in the public restrooms sometimes..I have a thing with wiping the counters I guess lol. My friends think I'm slightly abnormal.) I also take shower/bath twice a day ..just to clean my name in advance, in case you think I don't have great hygiene habits or something..:) I do have a nice tray with all my beautiful eau de perfume bottles..right in the middle of the counter. I think it enhances my bathroom experience. My husband doesn't have similar centerpiece. (poor thing) I truly hope though mine enhances his bathroom experience too lol....See MoreAnyone get a dish soap dispenser in their sink to go with the faucet?
Comments (7)Yes, we put one in our last home when we got new countertops, and really liked it. We just finished our new to us kitchen and opted for it again. I did get the matching one to the faucet, but honestly a generic would work just as well. It works great and allows for one less thing on the sink. (Pre Covid, we didn't alway have hand soap on the counter). The faucet is Delta Cassidy and the soap dispenser is as well....See More- 13 years ago
