A little off topic

This is a little off topic, but I'm kind of curious where all these kitchen remodels are happening, as in where are we all from? I am in Western Washington state, about 30 miles south of Seattle. It seems like there are more people from the east and Canada then from this side of the country!

Joaniepoanie- my oldest got his bachelor's from OSU so we were there too! Three generations of Buckeyes in my family- Dad, Mom, DH, me and now Son #1! Congrats to your daughter!

It's true they do make excellent parents. Bird brains? Bah! Yes, human parents could learn a lot from the way these little ones protect their babies. A couple of years ago I rescued a little fledgling that was displaced from its nest. The Wildlife guy came out and said it would be good if the mother bird would take it back. I put it outside and kept a close watch on it. Sure enough, the mother bird came squawking up and once again took up her quest to guard and feed her little one. Seemed the baby had two moms. Since it was hopping a lot along the ground and only onto lower branches. I spent a good part of the day keeping an eye on it along with its mother. Did this for several days. As we were leaving for vacation shortly thereafter, I had to just leave the little guy up to God and its mother. I think it had started flying to somewhat higher branches by this time. When we returned from our trip a couple of weeks later, it was no where to be found. Hopefully, it was already strong enough to be mostly on its own. Who knows? Maybe the one that's attacking me is that little bird all grown up. lol I'd hope that he'd remember my concern for him and be a little kinder to me. :-) Of course, it may not be the one I rescued at all.

Mulberry & Emma & Tiger, thanks for the responses! I didn't have a spot for my house plants outside for the last 2 years & we just moved to a new house with a lovely covered eastern front porch & a covered southern carport area. I'm excited to move them out. The years before we lived at our last house, I always put them out on our covered front porch & they always did really well. I just repotted my collection & they're enjoying some wind & sun (not direct sun!) underneath my carport. I'll be bringing them in tonight, & probably putting them back out again permanently on next Thursday after our (dare I say?) last cold snap. I'm attempting now to build my own moss-covered pole support for my monstera that has gotten very unruly in its growing (I had no idea that it needed support, my fault!) so that it will have something to climb on with its aerial roots this summer. I'm sure that they're all going to just explode with new growth once they get outside into the brighter light & warmth. I agree, Tiger, this spring has been very frustrating. Even for someone who only has planted flower seeds. I'm actually a smidgen relieved that I didn't go crazy with all the space in our new yard & plant a veggie garden. I'd be beside myself with stress & aggravation with this crazy weather. We were 85 degrees one day & 30 degrees the next night. :-/ One thing about Oklahoma weather, there is never a dull moment, is there? LOL.

Last treatment is something to celebrate and if Dark Chocolate Amaretto cupcakes won't keep the good luck flowing nothing will! Last year the HG had to go for 2 hours daily for six weeks. The staff treated him so kindly so I in turn provided them with goodies. They were very appreciative to the point where it seemed like that didn't happen often.

Thanks Carol and Sultry!! As you can tell...I love photography :) I did a lot of sports photography over the last 40 years so I'm sure that helps with catching birds in flight. I shot these handheld with my Canon 7D and my Canon 70-200 2.8 lens (which equates to 112-320mm due to the 1.6 magnification factor on canon digital SLRs). Normally, if I knew ahead of time that we were going to go birding after visiting Tom, I would have packed my 300 2.8 (480mm equivalent) and a monopod. But, since I was only planning on shooting gardens and flowers, I packed light. Sultry, I love their "bed head" look as well :)

Suburb north of Houston -- as usual, hot & muggy! Mama_goose, my late husband was from southern Ohio, across the Ohio River from Huntington, WVA. We lived in Columbus the first five years of our marriage. Love you Buckeyes!

What a wonderfully diverse group...just like the other times we have had these threads. There are pockets of folks from the same areas and then a broad representation. Hello to GA folks...I am right on the border. ( grew up in New Orleans...Go Saints!) c

Wow! I saw a few Michiganders out there! I only indicated Michigan but my handle gives me away. A2 is what the locals call Ann Arbor.
My kitchen came from a local lumber store but I snagged a few items from around the country.
Hardware and tile accents from Pennsylvania while visiting DM.
Tile from California. I tried to find a local source without success.
So, I feel connected to both coasts. - now, I wish I had a view of the coasts!
