calling Boxiebabe on soap good for hands and dishes
Comments (2)When I was at Walmart the other day, in the dishsoap section, there were several that said something about it being good for hands and dishes. I normally use the Walmart brand "Equate" antibacterial liquid handsoap. It's pretty gentle as far as dishes go, but still effective and I have not noticed any film on the dishes washed. There are, however, soaps that specifically say that you can use them for both....See MoreI make Pizza and My Hands Smell -- How to make kitchen soap
Comments (6)No doubt- we are born at the right time to be good cooks! Now, to be more specific about my liquid soap. Any unscented liquid base will do. I use Dr. Bronners's unscented liquid soap, which I order, in quart bottles, from drugstore.com. I add 1.5 tablespoons spearmint Essential oil to a quart.(I also add a couple of glass marbles to the bottle, to help the oil to mix in.) I get my spearmint EO from Brambleberry.com. They also sell liquid soap base in gallon bottles. This may be better for you, since I imagine you will need larger quantities than I do. I hope this info is helpful....See MoreExplain the Point of Dish Soap Dispenser at Sink
Comments (38)Beth, after a base amount, our water bill goes up the more we use. Since I switched to putting the soap directly on my scrubber instead of filling the sink, my water bill has dropped. I do someone fill a small container to drop small gadgets into but I never fill the sink. Most pans with stuff stick on don't usually need soaking to clean. I just wipe a wet, soapy scrubber on anything hardening and let it sit for awhile. This is usually enough to clean it without having to scrub hard. Of course, there are occasional exceptions. Ink actually trying to learn to put more things in the DW and then just ruin it more often since learning that my energy efficient DW uses less water than someone typically uses when washing dishes in the sink....See MoreDish washing and hand soap fragrances
Comments (61)No one said that scent is not important - it is very important, and it is especially important that the scents we want to enjoy are not obliterated by scents that we do not want. I was unable to detect the scents in food that I liked because they were being masked by the scent of the hand soap. Scents can also warn us of danger as much as they can delight us. I remember being constantly nauseated by the barnyard smells when I was growing up, and I would not wear shoes in the house that I had worn in the barn - I had to have galoshes to protect my shoes whenever I would go there. I saw one show on TV about human development, and it said that brothers find the scent of their sisters repulsive (and vice versa) thus helping to prevent interbreeding. Therefore scents are very personal, and what one person finds attractive, another person will find repulsive. For this reason, it is important to respect boundaries with regard to scents and not invade someone's space with unwanted fragrances. For me, the hand soap was a very unwanted fragrance. There are as many repulsive smells as there are pleasant ones. Smells also trigger the most intense memories, and olfactory memories have been shown to be some of the strongest. I've noticed this when I smell freshly cut grass....See MoreOakley
