calling Boxiebabe on soap good for hands and dishes

What is the right soap that will do dishes and hands? I'd love to know what you use. This will be for a prep sink so I won't need something that could take my hide off. The real greasy stuff will go to the clean up sink and heavy duty detergent.

When I was at Walmart the other day, in the dishsoap section, there were several that said something about it being good for hands and dishes. I normally use the Walmart brand "Equate" antibacterial liquid handsoap. It's pretty gentle as far as dishes go, but still effective and I have not noticed any film on the dishes washed. There are, however, soaps that specifically say that you can use them for both.

I've never kept 2 different soaps--don't have the space and also don't believe different soaps are necessary.

I use different types of hand soap (plain and simple ones--usually from Trader Joe's) on both my hands and my dishes. Currently I'm using the Mrs. Meyers brand (lemon). I use it on my hands all day, and also to clean up the greasiest dishes.

Just say no to commercial dish soap! :-)

Sounds like scale build-up. You can buy scale remover or use vinegar. You could use the same idea of soaking a towel in the scale remover or vinegar and leave it over night. I would use some old rag that you can just throw away and probably cotton would be best if you choose to use that scale remover which is kind of strong. Vinegar will probably not harm a cloth. This may take a few times to get it all. But if it's hard and sharp that would most likely be scale from your water. We have scale in our water and vinegar gets it off. It can also build up on the shower head and cause the water to not come out very good, you can put vinegar in a baggie and put it on the shower head and use some tape to hold it there over night. It will be clean in the morning!

For 8 years now I've had a soap dispenser with the kitchen sink. I use the same dispenser for washing dishes and washing my hands, and honestly can't imagine a sink of mine without one. I've always used Palmolive. Let me tell you why. When I was looking for a product for my soap dispenser, I immediately thought of an old commercial from my youth featuring Madge the Manicurist. She used Palmolive and the tagline was: "It softens hands while you do the dishes." Never underestimate the power of commercials. Btw, I can't claim my hands are softer. :)

Thanks for the other suggestions and ideas. Max - Love those! I'd probably buy the fig one. Allison - Thanks for posting your photo. I didn't think about a ball jar. I like how that looks too. Walnutcreek - Thanks! It's a different style, but clean looking. I like the other too glass ones also. They might compete with the size of my dish soap bottle though since it's taller. Marisa - They look nice! I wish I had a Home Goods here. Zoey - That was the Target one I was talking about. I like that a lot. I'm glad to hear yours has been working well and might give it a try. I saw nothing appealing while I was out recently. I'm going to check again tomorrow. Thanks!

I have Seventh Generation free and clear dish liquid in the bottle it came in for general purposes, in the built-in pump dispenser on my laundry sink, and in a battery operated sensor dispenser for chicken hands. It's thin enough that it doesn't clog either of the pumps, though if they don't get used for awhile (i.e., many days), like any liquid soap or detergent, it'll dry out on the end and need to be cleared. I can't touch a lot of detergents, including Woolite, but the Seventh Generation is very mild and never hurts my hands. According to people in one of those old threads, it does have some standard ingredients that can be irritating to people who are sensitive to them. Doesn't bother me. :) I also use it for a lot of general cleaning.
