Maple vs. Birch floors--pics needed please
Comments (15)When I remodeled my home, I had select red birch, on-site-finished, placed everywhere in the house except for the bathrooms. No stain was applied to the floor...I left it the natural, lovely color. Even the stairs received this treatment. Here are some photos of the finished product. After living with these floors for 5 years, I can tell you I love the birch flooring and never tire of the variety of grain and colors in the wood. It's truly art-for-the-floor. Yes, if you drop something heavy on the floor, there will be a dent or two....but it doesn't detract from the floor or destroy its beauty. I've lived with oak and red oak floors in previous homes, and much prefer the red birch flooring in this home. Hope these photos help. Comments (6)I said on another post that i think Cloud White is highy underrated. I find it to be milky, but not creamy. More of a warmer white, not too stark, but not yellowish. They probably wiuld bith work with the colors you selected. I have cloud white with SW Contented and BM Carrington Beige and it works well with both. To my eye, white dove looks more creamy (yellow) in samples than it does in pics of people's cabinets. BM also lists them as coordinating colors. Your best bet is peobably to get large paped samples or sample pots of both to look at in the space once the floors are installed and cabinets are installed. Maybe one will jump out as the right one, but they will probably both work....See MoreNeed Your ideas to add CONTRAST to my Ivory kitchen vision
Comments (29)Again I appreciate all the responses. I did keep lots of pictures from Houzz, and liked so many different schemes. I love the older look with white appliances and colorful backsplash or paint on the walls, but that would have looked great in my old bungalow. This house is so neutral I think that would stick out like a sore thumb. I feel like I need neutrals to go with the rest of the house. Here's a picture of the adjacent space open to my kitchen, and 2 inspiration pictures for monochromatic. After many of you suggested keeping the oak color, I do see it with the Marfil countertop. I think it would almost look mid-century modern. Maybe I just have to get over the fear of the builder grade vs expensive quartz ???? I think the white of the sink and the windowsills look good with the ivory/sand, so thought the white appliances could stay....See MoreDark trim vs. White. Updating home without painting ALL TRIM white??
Comments (20)* Also when looking at the hallway ^... that photo of the "door" to the right is actually an elevator door...(Its faux painted...done before we moved here.) That is also the dilemma... if husband paints trim white... there is that door and I do NOT want to paint it white. so can the trim around the door be painted?...See Morecat_mom
